Exactly. MAGA folks have single handedly ruined your future in only 4 months. We, as your allies and international partners will suffer but, when we rebound, we are not coming back. We also won’t be travelling to your country for work, conferences, and tourism.

Speak for yourself. I’m going to need to get out of this hellhole from time to time, while I still can.

Whew! Thank you. Yes, don’t come here. Too many other places. Sad. So, sad. It didn’t have to be this way.

Assuming that's over 10 years, that's $600 billion per year.

There are 134 million households, so this is nearly $5,000 per household per year.

And it's like a sales tax, so it's a flat tax. A huge hit to the budgets of working folks.

Just what Rs have wanted for years - a flat tax

The world is a different world than the Reagan and Bush years - not to mention extremely differently than the ridiculous call backs to 18th and 19th century American politics. We are all interconnected across the world in multiple ways - supply chains, social media, culture, immigration. How does the new American isolationism (MAGA driven) translate within this new global geopolitics?

james surowiecki has discovered where the completely fabricated trump tariff rate has come from for each country

"...for every country, they just took our trade deficit with that country and divided it by the country's exports to us."

Love this for the Trump voters, hate this for the rest of us.

Also, I posted this on the O Canada thread last night. The Trump admin is clueless about the consequences of these nonsense tariffs. Trump turned a Trump Ontario Premier into an anti-Trump advocate, and me into a PM Ford fan. See below and watch the short interview.

I never voted for Doug Ford, Premier of Ontario (Conservative), but I have more admiration for him. Does the general American population and, more specifically the Trump administration, know what is going on? Clearly not.

President Donald Trump says taxing imports will strengthen domestic manufacturing. Hours before announcing new tariffs, his administration cut support for centers that help US firms do just that.

This is why no one can take this administration seriously. There is no coordinated effort to even try to achieve their stated goals.

By a vote of 51-48, the #Senate passed S. J. Res. 37, a joint resolution terminating the national emergency declared to impose duties on articles imported from Canada.

GOP Senators Collins, McConnell, Murkowski, and Paul voted in favor. Not voting: Marshall.

When you’re a narcissistic, ignorant, isolationist, corpulent, cult leader who inundates himself with fawning Fox coverage, who hire unqualified “loyalist” cabinet picks, and listen to fringe economists like Paul Navarro this is par for the course.

The worst part is reading the comments of poorly educated MAGA rubes gloat on Twitter about this tariff decision as though it’s good for America. Propaganda works.
