Yes, the science that all students need sleep? ![]() |
YES!! |
Sleep is so important. It should not be shortchanged. MCPS - do the right thing!
Don’t live in the past |
Yes, I agree, especially for my MS and ES child. ![]() |
My kid is now in HS and start times are too early. Can't they make the younger kids go early instead of mine? |
Exactly, because:
I don't care about the HS kid who has to watch their siblings after school because their single parent is working; I don't care about the HS kid who is working to help cover rent and groceries for their family; I don't care about the lack of busses and bus drivers; I don't care about those HS kids involved in after school activities and sports. I only care about my kid, who cannot go to bed any earlier and has trouble waking up in the morning |
You need a nap, cranky poster. |
No. Haven't you been following along? There are a variety of reasons it is impractical to flip HS and ES start times. This has been well documented in past reviews on this topic, and discussed in much of this thread. |
Perhaps they should be asking why their parents didn’t enforce earlier bedtimes. |
Or they'll call you to ask why you don't believe in science. DP. |
My high schooler sleeps from 10-6 each night. Explain to me why 11-7 would be better? A delayed start time simply means teens stay up later doing what they didn’t have time for earlier in the day. |
They only care about the easiest way to parent which is no parenting and enforcing bedtime. Its not about kids, its about them. |
What about the science that says teachers need to use the restroom more than once day? Or that we need more than 30 seconds per student of planning time per day? |
Your answer does not make sense in terms of child and adolescence development |
Yes, let’s talk about that science. I tried to make it to the bathroom 3 times today. By the time I finally found an empty stall between classes 3 hours later, I was ready to burst. Science would tell us this is really bad for my bladder. |
