Good for them. Ezekiel 23:20 "There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses." Just what the hell are Christians trying to teach our children? |
Yes, it's not an appropriate topic for kindergartners, but the whole premise that kindergartners were being taught about gender and sexuality was a pretzel-twisting right wing lie to begin with. |
Not to mention the "virgin birth". How is that appropriate content for children? |
Aw, someone has their feelings hurt. This send the message that a big corporation cannot tell the state what to do and think. It’s one thing for Disney to disagree with the Parental Bill but to actively try and get the law dismissed is a whole another level. It’s Disney who doubled down and decided to start this culture war. |
I’m aware. It’s how it’s used. The talking point |
I love how the right-wingers in this thread keep going back to this lie of a talking point about what the law actually says. |
Going in circles again, I see. Opposing the law is not a "whole another level." It's free speech. Corporations are people, my friend! |
The actual law itself is really interesting. Supporters tell you it bans something that isn't happening, sexualized instruction of young children. The text actually doesn't ban that thing (sexually explicit instruction is totally fine under that law of it doesn't touch on gender or orientation, so a teacher could teach a class of 5 year olds how to masturbate without that being banned, even if that's totally inappropriate), and the actual text would make acknowledging gender or families of any kind illegal which is obviously ridiculous. It's like an exercise in ways to demonstrate that law isn't what it says it is, and the result is precisely "don't say gay" as we see from the recent bannings of perfectly innocuous books that happen to have gay families in them. |
Oh, you sweet, stupid child. Remember that darling of the right, Citizens United? Corporations have First Amendment free speech rights. |
Except corporations CAN tell the state what to do and think. This is America, FFS. |
Are you OK? |
Corporations lobby all the time over all sorts of issues. Ron DeSantis started this because he believes only people who support him can have a say. |
I find the whole 1+1 = 2 thing very offensive. So glad the governor is on top of this. Deloitte Better keep their f’ing mouth shut! |
A massive number of employers are moving to Florida particularly out of finance in NYC. I'm a Floridian and I think it is much better for taxpayers for Disney not to have this Reedy Creek entity. At present Disney does not have to work with the Florida Water Management districts. |
| Ha ha ha! Yeah it’s not better for Florida’s taxpayers to pick up Disneys 1 billion debt or fund 163 million in services. Big financial win for Disney. |
