I want to spend an entire day cooking something

Anonymous
I'm going to be stuck at home alone all day Saturday and I want to spend the day cooking something amazing -- something complicated, exotic, and delicious (obviously). I want to be actively cooking, not just staring at a crockpot. I can make more than one thing, of course.

What would you cook if you were me? We eat everything, love spicy and ethnic food, and I have several days to prep so I can get whatever ingredients I need.

Is this a joke?

If I had an entire day I would make an elaborate meal with several complicated dishes. But actually I would do something tasty and pretty easy like shrimp scampi, and read a book for the other 10 hours.

Chicken tikka masala:

(You can make it spicier to your taste.)

Also, with all the lovely stone fruits around, I would make pie.

Cook something from Julia Child

Bake and decorate a cake from scratch. Google Italian buttercream and make the frosting that way.

Definitely a pie with crust from scratch, plus homemade ice cream. For the main dishes maybe go Vietnamese and visit the market in Eden Center since you have all day. Or make pate? Or homemade jam and bread?

Fresh stuffed pasta?

OP again -- I'm not into baking. Definitely prefer savory cooking.

Love the Julia Child idea. Maybe Boeuf Bourguignon...

cassoulet

I thought about cassoulet, too.

Now I'm thinking Ethiopian -- I love Doro Wat and it would be fun to try and create an entire Ethiopian meal.

And potatoes Dauphine to go with it!

There are great ideas from the lady who did "Julie and Julia". You can find some online.

IIRC, she found the gelatin recipes to be the most complicated and time consuming- those could definitely take all day...

Maybe bisteeya or chicken fattee.
