What age did your kids stop going on family vacations?
If your kids are young, what age did you stop travelling with your parents on family vacations? My kids are 16 and 14 and obviously still come with us, just wondering how many years until they stop. I will be sad. |
| We didn't do any family vacations once I left for college. |

i was 11. But we never went on cool trips, only crappy camping trips with an hour or two of home. It was miserable. I mean really really miserable. Man it was freeing when I threw a big fit and my mom let me stay home alone (with same aged friend) for a weekend. |
| I'm 32 I go with my parents on vacation when I can, it's difficult with everyone's schedule. |
| Mine are in college so we travel more now without the kids but we still travel as a family a couple times a year, usually for a Christmas ski trip. Spring breaks have already been at different times for 7-8 years so we've done trips with just one kid at a time or they will do their own thing. |
Why was that? |
We never even camped. I had one family trip in my life. Now that I'm a mom I travel constantly. |
That's cool. I have friends who do that. I'm jealous. |
Not PP but I don't think I did many either. I worked in the summers, came home for Christmas, traveled on my own for spring break. |
I'm an only child and I typically live across the country from my parents. When I have vacation time we try and coordinate it so we can meet somewhere for a vacation. It works out nicely. My mom, my aunt, my grandma and I also try and do 1 girls trip together each yr. usually a long weekend. I'm also an only grandchild so my family is rather close. |
| Family trips still happen in my family. If someone can't come because of a work schedule or kids activities that's fine, but they are still planned every so often. They started to change when my sister and I were out of the house , working, and in serious relationships. |

There isn't a threshold age when your children stop going on vacation with you - I suppose it's a combination of finances, logistics and interest in that particular trip. I would assume that starting in college, children might have their own plans, but perhaps join you for a trip every now and then. |

My last was the summer after my sophomore year in college. I fought nonstop with my parents, and was a total crab, ruining it for everyone. I didn't want to be there, and they came to realize it was time to cut the cord. I stayed in my college town the next summer for an internship.
Now that I'm an adult, married with my own family, we will take vacations with my parents occasionally. We all went to Orlando last winter, and it was fun. |
| My sister and I still do a week long beach vacation with our parents. We're both in our 30's, married with kids. We've done this yearly since I was born, and my grandparents were there. |
| Some people never stop. You don't need to either OP. |
