Age kids stop going on family vacations?

The "kids" in my family are 35, 33, and 29 and we still vacation with my parents (and all of our spouses and now 3 grandkids and sometimes a stray in-law or two). My parents love to travel and go interesting places and when we are invited, we go!

Our 24 year old only child DD still goes on family vacations with us when she can and she lives in another city. We meet at our destination point.

We stopped family vacations after graduating college. I grew up wealthy and most of our family vacations were cross country or international. When I graduated at 22 I didn't have money to be able to go with everyone else so I stopped. I didn't have enough money to fly home for Christmas either.

Now that I'm older and married I travel with my parents often. We normally do a big trip with them once a year, but we pay for ourselves. My siblings don't have the money so they don't come with us.

In my 50s but that is because they died.

Depends on the family. If the family is tolerable, you don't have to stop!

I notice the ILs don't go on some family trips. Just saying.

I largely stopped in college mostly because I had other things going on and other interests but we still vacation with my parents (divorced) pretty much every year. With one parent we take an annual trip but we pay our own way. Both parents come to visit us at our beach house - one for an extended period, the other usually for a weekend. We've done some international trips too - in some instances we split it, in others we pay.

I am 40, 2 kids under 6.

Every year since my son (first grandchild) was 2, my in-laws get a house at the beach for the week for everyone (BIL/SIL with now 3 kids, SIL who is single/no kids). They did this when the kids were in school, stopped for a while, and then started again. We don't have money to chip in for this and they don't ask. Everyone takes turns making (and buying) dinner.

Last year, my parents took my family, my sister and husband, and my single brother on a trip out West, like we used to do when we were kids. They used a part of the money my grandparents left them to fund it.

Otherwise, my DH and kids and I don't go on any trips with just our family except maybe one overnight (one night) a year to something driving distance away. All the rest of vacation time is used to visit our parents and families at their homes because they live far away.

I thought I would keep going camping and trout fishing with my parents in Yosemite every August until I died. If I had realized the summer before college that this was our last go-round I probably would have cried every day of the trip. Summers during college I worked, and moved to DC right after. Vacations with the parents became more about visiting them at holiday time. Occasionally though we have been able to get the whole gang together at a lake house in Tahoe or a rental outside Yosemite. But not every year. Hope to take the kids back and show them the campground, which is now closed by the NPS and only open for hiking and picnics. Apparently the pit toilets were polluting the lake in the spring when they flooded, or something.

My son is 23 and dd is 20. They no longer have the time to spend the entire summer in Europe with us but do fly out to meet us whenever possible. They'll be welcome no matter how old they get.

Never. I went as long as my parents paid, which was until I was 25, when my youngest sibling graduated from college.

In my 30s and married with two kids. So far, all of our trips longer than a long weekend (minus honeymoon) have been with one set of parents and sometimes our brothers.
