I’ll save you the clicks. They played in a weak b-team bracket, won out and lost early in the playoffs. |
Sweetie? Well! I think I may have made a love connection ❤️!!!!! |
| Lumberlax fell to M&D. Wow. |
5-1 not to bad for some friends who like to get together 2-3 times a year and play lacrosse Also Beating a national team and giving a top MD team a game. |
Still pissed how this team was set up. |
Well you only missed out on being coached by a pride mom and 6 of the 7 teams were worse than the ones you played during your regular season at Pride. |
Wow. Pride had a pretty easy NGLL schedule by comparison to other top teams. Not a good warm up for Cap Blue core players. |
I don’t understand how Lumberlax works. Aren’t the Lumberlax kids already rostered on different club teams? And weren’t those club teams already playing at MidAtlantic or another tournament this weekend? |
| No one had a better time reading this thread them I did. But, it's gotta end someday. How about sat the end of the week? Please?! |
| Stars and Pride ended their seasons. LumberLax just kept it going for the girls that wanted to keep playing. It is pretty much the Cap Blue team minus some of the Stars players that did not make it. Question will be if LumberLax will try to keep going next year and how that will go over with the Capital organization. |
If that is the case, cap blue has some work to do. |
| I heard a bunch of LumberLax girls did not make Capital. |
I was always thought Lumberlax was a made up team from this message board! Didn’t realize they actually existed. Where can I buy Lumberlax merch? |

GM all, Jeremy McGonigle here. Figured I'd hop on the board as I guessed this is where it would go given past experiences with Lumberlax. Just to clarify:
1) Yes, Lumberlax played in the Mid-Atlantic Summer Club Championships this past weekend. This was done as the girl's club seasons were over but they wanted to keep playing lacrosse. 2) The idea was to try to get competitive games in group play and see where it went. When asked how I thought we'd do, I told the Tournament Director we could compete strongly in the 2nd bracket, possibly the top bracket, but would play wherever they seeded us. Unfortunately, we were seeded in the 4th bracket (of 7). I tried multiple times to have this changed, but also respect that the tournament did what they felt was best in seeding an unranked, fairly unknown (outside of DCUM) team. 3) No, this team is not "pretty much the Cap Blue team". The roster who played this past weekend was comprised of 18 girls who will be playing for 6 different clubs come the fall. It speaks absolutely nothing as to how any of those clubs will perform and to imply otherwise is either ill-informed or spreading rumors to support individual, personal narratives. 4) Yes, the team won out the bracket, beat a national team in the first round of the playoffs and then played the #6 ranked team in the Country, M&D Black, to a 4-2 loss. The girls were beat by a better team yesterday, but I'm proud of the performance from a group of girls that didn't have a practice together before the tournament, with some of them meeting each other for the first time this weekend. 5) Yes, the team this weekend was coached by two moms, because it's a pickup team. I'm appreciative of those two moms for stepping up and supporting the girls continuing their season as they hoped to - thank you! 6) Anything that Lumberlax does moving forward will be coordinated with any clubs the girls who choose to play are on, as that's the respectful, decent thing to do. I have always prioritized the girls involvement in their primary club, and respected those club's wishes when provided - that will not change. 7) As part of this tournament group, Lumberlax provided a few dozen lacrosse sticks and uniforms for 150 girls in Peru in support of a High School outreach event put on by the Peruvian Women's National Team. This was done in support of the advancement of the sport that our girls love on the international stage. Sadly, that piece of what Lumberlax does always seems to get the least attention, but has the greatest impact on the bigger picture. 8) I apologize if you're upset as to how this team was formed, or if you feel your daughter should've been involved and wasn't. There will be many opportunities along the way in all of our daughter's lacrosse journeys where they will not be able to participate in something they had hoped to - it's just how things work out sometimes. I will say that there were girls who I would've loved to have as part of Lumberlax along the way that I decided not reach out to because of the behavior I saw from their parents. This unfortunately is also something that will happen - our behavior affecting our daughter's opportunities. I'd ask that we all stay sensitive to that one, especially as our girls move into HS and college coaches are watching. Hopefully the facts provided help to clarify any questions as to the weekend. I respect your decision to move forward, continue to express yourself, or tell everyone this isn't true and push whatever narrative you feel appropriate. If you have any other questions, would like to connect, or just want to vent at me directly, please feel free to reach out to me at JeremyMcGonigle@gmail.com. I'll end my involvement on this thread by wishing all of our girls nothing but the best of luck as they transition to this next chapter of their lacrosse journeys. May they all find the fulfillment they seek, and you find enjoyment in seeing your daughters playing the sport they love! Best of luck to all, and enjoy the rest of your summers. Jeremy |
