Has anyone had positive HPTs at home but negative urine test at doctor?

Anonymous
I've been getting bfps at home for the past 7 days but it came up negative at the doctor's office. I felt like the nurse thought I was crazy. It pissed me off. Has this happened to anyone else?

Did you get a urine test or a blood test? My doctor doesn't even do urine tests. The amt of hormone can really fluctuate in the urine.

The urine test was negative so I asked for a blood test and am waiti on those results. At home I'm still getting bfps.

Yes, here's my thread that I was able to dig up - spoiler alert it was a mc. Also to tack onto this note the doctor refused to test me for hormone or clotting issues and I tested positive for both later by another doctor. Listen to your body and instincts! Good luck OP and hope it works out for you.

PP again - just wanted to share I finally did manage to keep a pregnancy with appropriate treatment and gave birth a couple weeks ago so if things don't work out now there is hope for the future (and trust me I felt really hopeless for a long while).

I had something like 9 positive home pregnancy tests. Then I went to Foxhall Ob/Gyn and they gave me a urine test and the medical techs said she had to dip 3 sticks in my urine "to get a test to come back positive" and that even then it was "very very faint" so she wasn't sure. I was super confused so I asked to see the urine tests -- they were clear positives and she just did not know how to read them. I later talked to the doctor who confirmed all 3 of the urine tests they did there were positive. It's just that their medical technician did NOT know how to read a pregnancy test -- maybe time for a new job!? She's also the one who drew my blood for the betas and said,"Don't worry, this test will be inconclusive and indefinite." Great. Made me feel like I was in great hands (not!).

You know, I was wondering if it was user error. The nurse gave off a bad vibe. Maybe she just dipped it, looked for an immediate line, and then tossed it. In reality you're supposed to wait 3-5 mins.

Were the tests you used at home all from the same batch? If your anxious get a different new test to try while you wait for blood test results

It's rare to get a false positive on HPTs.

Get the frers. Pink dye ones are te best supposedly. There wa a study done (that I can't find) about blue due ones having false pos and more evap line issues.

10:57 here. The nine positive HPTs I took were from different brands, boxes and batches because I wanted to be sure no false positives. I *knew* I was pregnant. Sometimes these nurses/techs do not know what they are doing, even though they work with OBs. I was shocked.

Thanks. My wondfos are pink dye though so that should be fine, right?

It really is quite shocking that a tech at an OB's office can't perform/read a pregnancy test correctly. Where do they get these people?!
