Pregnant after MMC and so worried.

Anonymous
Hi All, I am taking a brave leap from the TTC forum to here. I had a MMC/D&C in November and just found out Wednesday at 10dpo that I am pregnant again. The line was much more faint than last time but it was visible. On 11dpo I took a test using FMU and the line was so very faint I had to squint/turn just to see it so I considered it a negative and figured I was having an early loss. Distraught, I went to the doctor wanting to get my hormones checked and see why I'm losing these pregnancies. Turns out their test popped up positive just fine and I was shocked to hear that I was in fact pregnant. They took a beta (should get results today) and will do another beta on monday. I was very worried about it being chemical but a couple of hours after my appointment yesterday I had some IB like last time so at least I know it's implanting. That could also explain the very faint tests that it was just too early.

Anyway, that's my rant, just looking for some support for those of you that had a MMC and went on to have additional pregnancies. I am worried out of my mind.

I had a MMC a little over two and a half years ago. I now have a healthy, fat, chubby wonderful 17 month-old son.

I was like you as well, completely worried and freaked out. It is hard to do, but you just need to relax. Have faith that all will be okay. Try to keep yourself busy and stay focused on being healthy and strong.

Congrats OP!

OP, I had a missed abortion and a D&C one year in November and gave birth to my first child in January of the next year. I certainly understand being worried out of your mind. I had regular breakdowns throughout the whole first trimester. But it came out ok. I hope that it will come out ok for you too.

I had one in Feb 2010. DS 1 was conceived in July 2010, DS 2 in feb 2013. Now a mom to an almost 3 year old and a 4 month old! No issues w either pregnancy. Sometimes - most of the time - it is just a fluke. Hang in there - you aren't alone. And congrats!!

Just wanted to tell you I'm in the same spot, and it is so, so hard. I had an MMC in January, followed by failed medical management and an emergency d&c, and got pregnant the next cycle, and have been pretty much a nonstop nerve fest. My RE gently reminded me that "at least it can't hurt the baby!" But I am trying to do better for myself, my husband, my two and a half year old DD, and my job! We had a very early us at 5w1d and even though the RE told me he was only looking for a gestational sac, seeing that empty sac on the screen brought back all those horrid memories. Keeping fingers and toes crossed all looks well on the next scan...

Good luck to you, OP! Here's hoping we're both holding adorable newbies in late November!

OP here. Dr just called and my beta blood test came back at only 2 so they're considering that negative. They have no explanation as to how I could have gotten a positive urine test just minutes before the blood draw. I am so gutted and so confused.

Sorry, OP.

Have they done any testing? Maybe test for the blood clotting issue and progesterone levels. I think those are the two least invasive.

Another thing, and this is a long shot, but is it possible there's still HGC left in your system from the chemical pregnancy? This might be a long shot as well, but I've read in some places that some women find that a MC messes up their cycle, and they have some success with going on birth control for a month or two to get things back to normal, then going off and TTC again. It might be an option worth exploring given that it's relatively non-invasive.

How far along were you?

I am only 12 dpo with my period expected tomorrow. I guess this is a chemical but with IB where maybe it tried to stick.

OP, had you had full cycle post- D&C? It is possible that your HCG had just not gone back down fully. I am sorry.

I just had my second MMC but a rainbow in between. try to breath.

Yes, sorry for the confusion. My D&C was in November 2013 and my cycles have been normal since.

Just remember every pregnancy is different. It can feel like a long wait at the beginning while you're desperately hoping things will work out. Take care of yourself and be gentle with your emotions. If you get a little worked up, that's ok, don't beat yourself up for feeling anxious.

Good luck, I hope you get a great beta number to put your mind at ease.

It sucks having your innocence ripped away by a MMC. My first pregnancy was a MMC at 10.5 weeks. My next pregnancy was very hard to bind with because I was always preparing to lose it. Both my second and third pregnancies resulted in live, healthy babies.
I did get the MaterniT21 at 10 weeks with my second, and I did the NT at 11 weeks with both to try to get some peace of mind.
I wish you a healthy and uneventful pregnancy.
