I'm getting ready to apply for a job where I fell I am "qualified". Do I have a shot even if there are applicants who are best qualified and well qualified?
Best Qualified - Applicant possesses exceptional experience with a background that demonstrates a superior level of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies required to perform the duties of the position. Well Qualified - Applicant possesses good experience with a background that demonstrates a satisfactory level of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies required to perform the duties of the position. Qualified - Applicant possesses the minimum qualifications with a background that demonstrates a basic level of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies required to perform the duties of the position. |
The answer to your question is no. Of course you would not be hired if there are people that are better qualified than you. Why would any employer do that? That being said, you may be undervaluing your qualifications. Put the absolute best light on them that you can without crossing over into being untruthful. It is always worth a shot, if only because you get more experience with the application/selection process under your belt. |
I may just be doing that. It's not a stretch that I'm well qualified, but I'm definitely not highly qualified. I may beef up my resume and KSA's to really nail down what the job is looking for in comparison to my current duties. |
