My history of miscarriages has me on progesterone after I ovulate.
So this past time my period was 6 days late. Not sure if it was a chemical or if it was just the progesterone. I started bleeding the day I got a negative beta so it was clear to stop the progesterone that night. That was one week ago. So I've basically had a period for the past week. So now I am trying again - just on my own this cycle. I have opk but didn't start using until today. I think I was just too sad after the negative beta to deal. So am I starting to be fertile now? Or will my ovulation be delayed? I've read that either you ovulate on time, ignoring the progesterone delayed period OR both period and ovulation is delayed. Anyone that temped and charted after a delay from progesterone have input? If on time ovulation is possible I may have already missed my ttc window bc I'm either on day 7 or day 14. Gah this is so complicated. I don't go back to the doctor for a few weeks so I can't ask them. I guess we can just give it a try for the next couple of days. I'm just mad the drugs that are supposed to help basically messed me up and I let my mental exhaustion with this potentially ruin another month. |

Well my opk was negative yesterday afternoon. I tried this morning and it was positive.
So I think I'm ovulating and answered my own question. It's weird though bc I'm still spotting a little bc this is still the end if my period. At least my body is trying to stay on track. Though I think my lining won't have time to build up. At least I can have some hope and try for a cycle before going back to treatments and meds |

After my first iui my period was late by 5 days. Based on that being CD 1, I ovulated on CD 7. But if my period had come on time and not been delayed by the progesterone it would have been CD 12. If that makes sense.
I googled around and best I could figure is that it's estrogen and FSH that are related so since I wasn't on estrogen, that part of my cycle went on as usual despite the progesterone. So yes you're probably about to ovulate but your body is out of sync. |

this was my original post. what a crazy update i have.
basically I believe my last cycle i took progesterone and it delayed my period almost a week (or just by chance it was delayed). I got a positive OPK day 7 of my cycle - so it seemed like my period was just coming normal time despite the late period. FINE. but, then I got a second positive OPK on day 14. what?!? FINE. again - maybe I had a surge and ovulation was delayed. we had sex through all this just to cover bases. around day 15 in my cycle I started getting light pink (very pink) watery spotting for 2 days. then brownish/pinkish/sometimes reddish spotting for the last 3 +days. very light but there each day. tomorrow would be 2 weeks from that first positive OPK on chart day 7. I still have slight spotting. my period, assuming the progesterone delay from last cycle is ignored, at earliest would be not due for another week. bc of the late period, I expected I'm maybe even still 2 weeks out from my period. but I'm having all this spotting. I took a test and I'm not pregant. so what is going on? did I just totally mess up my cycle and my lh and progesterone is just a mess??? I can't see how i am bleeding from a drop in progesterone, because I can't see how it even had time to rise and drop. this is so much worse than I thought. OPK all over the place (I actually got a positive one on day 7, 14 and 18) and now all this random bleeding mid cycle. I now regret I ever took progesterone, but I did bc I have had these miscarriages and what they think are immune issues, but not diagnosed yet. my tests have come back normal so far. I need to go back to my doctor, but I feel like i just took 2 steps back. any insight? any of you have random bleeding after taking progesterone? I feel like I can't even explain this to my doctor. I never thought about PCOS, but am now bc of all the positive OPK. |
| Your post is a bit confusing but I had a whacky similar cycle like this and my RE said these things happen. I have been IVf cycles since then (I was on a break at the time) so I don't know how my cycle would be now. |

I just started progesterone a few days ago to correct a short luteal phase so I'm wondering how this will affect ovulation timing too. I hope you get some answers, OP.

thanks PP.
to clarify, progesterone delayed my last period a week. so I got an on time OPK on chart day 7 (instead of normal 14). basically even though my period was late last time, I ovulated on time. I'm now on chart day 21ish and I am spotting for 5 days now. no idea if this is a random period or hormone muck up or what? |
| Did you start taking the progesterone after you ovulated this time? |
| Well its either user error reading the OPK's, or your body tried to ovulate and didn't. Did you have any other symptoms of ovulation? EWCM? Cramping? Do you temp? |
|
No, not taking the progesterone at all. I didn't like that it delayed my period a week and then had me get a opk on day 7.
The weird thing is that second positive opk on day 14. It made me think my egg wasn't ready so I geared up didn't ovulate and then did a week later. That actually would be fine, but not with bleeding just a day or two after. How could anything implant? I have never that I can remember had spotting really. Having it a few days now is freaking me out. Is it a period or what? Now i can't even track my cycle. It's odd. I guess I am mad too, I wanted to try again this cycle and with the spotting, I feel like I'm already for sure out this month and it's only day 21. I barely got to be hopeful this month. |
| Progesterone is supposed to delay your period. That's the point. |
| People spot early because of lack of progesterone. If your doctor prescribed it, I'm guessing you have a deficiency? |
| The progesterone was prescribed bc of the miscarriages. I don't have a known deficiency. So I took it for 3 cycles, but it seemed to just mess up my cycles. Also I had a scare where I passed a lot of tissue, thinking I had yet another miscarriage there was so much and the dr. Thought it was related to the progesterone building up my lining. I know it's supposed to delay a period and lengthen l phase, but they thought I needed it to keep from miscarrying in the 1st trimester. I had Fertile mucus day 7 and 14 ish around the opk positives. My temp went up day 16ishof my cycle, when the bleeding/spottig started. Today the spotting is maybe 3 wipes of quarter size blood the entire day. So not a period but not nothing either. It's everytime I wipe. |
| I'm going to be that jerk and say... maybe it's implantation spotting? |
|
Op here. Believe me after early miscarriages, regular ones and in between yes I've read a lot about implantation bleeding. But, my test was negative. I'll test again, but at this point with several days, it seems more like if anything in that zone it would be run of the mill early pregnancy bleeding. If that was the case, I'd think I would have a positive by now.
This was hard enough but now my body seems to have gone from failing me to really just making me crazy. I just hate losing another month. Any other thoughts or suggestions welcome. I'm googled out and I feel like no doc will listen to me. They just run these blood tests on random days and tell me I'm looking good. |
