Obama wants you to pledge loyalty to him tomorrow
They have taken a pledge of loyalty to Obama, and they say they are coming tomorrow for yours. Organizing for America, the Obama-for-President campaign morphed into Obama-for-Maximum-Leader army, will hit the streets for their "Pledge Project Canvass," knocking on doors and accosting folks in parking lots and sidewalks to ask them to sign a pledge to support Obama's policies for health care, energy and education reform. http://www.topix.com/us/politics/2009/03/obama-wants-you-to-pledge-loyalty-to-him-tomorrow |
Right wing fantasies are an amazing thing. Here is what the pledge amounts to:
The Plan: Energy — Transforming America's economy to run on clean and renewable energy in order to create new American jobs and industries Health care — Comprehensively reforming health care so that families, businesses, and government are relieved from the crushing costs that impede economic growth and prosperity Education — Reforming and investing in America's education system so that citizens are prepared to compete in a global economy The Pledge: I support President Obama's bold approach for renewing America's economy I will ask friends, family, and neighbors to pledge their support for this plan Notably missing from either the plan or the pledge is any mention of "loyalty" to Obama. Of course, the wingers rarely let the facts stand in their way. |
Speaking of folks who take their orders from others, did this come straight from Rush, Sean or Glen? |
Op here. I am not right ring. You can go to the link to see topix.com if it is right ring or not. But I will be alarmed if someone knock on my door to sell a particular political point of view. |
yep, definitely not a loyalty pledge.
If you don't agree, OP, don't sign it. That's what I do when I don't agree with a petition. |
Whoever was the pr person who thought this up should be fired. Nice trying to guilt people to go along with stupid plans..and they are stupid. |
You will be "alarmed"? |
What's wrong with getting people to express their support for a plan? I think it's great that the average person has a way to show their interest in it. Usually we only hear from people with money, fame, or influence. |
Is this for real? This is totally creepy. |
What's next? Will conservatives be asked to wear some kind of special identification? Isn't this how Hitler started off? Trying to determine who supports dear leader and who does not? No wonder so many people are acquiring arms. |
Maybe it is a typo and the poster meant "I will be armed if someone know on my door..."? |
It is a little creepy - here is the training video...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4NKllI3AfM I don't mind campaign canvassing, or canvassing for signatures to get a person or project on a ballot - I can sign them without declaring support, just their right to be voted on. But to have to give a yes or no to a specific program like this on my door step - that does make me uncomfortable. |
Hopefully everyone is armed-it's their constitutional right--oh my fault..not in DC |
Who says that you have to answer? Actually, this is very similar to any number of petition drives that seem to be constantly going on. I must have 10-12 people a year stopping at my door concerned about clean water, clear air, or the like. And don't get me started on the Mormons. Frankly, while I support Obama, my reaction to this would probably be "The so-called plan is, in fact, three very broad goals. If you want me to support a plan, get back to me when you have one". |
Why should I hope everyone is armed? There are a couple of people I know who I really hope don't have guns! |
