I was picking up my DD from a play date and was talking to the mom of the other child (who is AA). We were talking about how we never see one another girl outside of school because she lives so far. The mom mentioned that this other girl had a large family and they go everywhere together. I responded, "Really?" And she said, "Yeah, they roll deep." I nodded in agreement but did not know what she meant. Any ideas? |
They travel in a big pack, the family is close, always showing up places together. |
Ah ok. Thanks! |
Ghetto slang for "safety in numbers".
|
How old are you and how white are you OP? I imagine OP being an Aryan from Darien. |
LOFL! I guess you didn't see Clueless back in the 90's when they were like "rollin w my homies!". |
"roll deep" isn't ghetto slang, it's party culture slang. You hear it from anyone who is involved in party/club culture. |
The term comes from west coast gang culture, dipshit, even if "party" culture uses it now. |
NP here, something tells me you never got invited to many parties. |
Unless those parties are in Compton, I'm guessing. |
I'm the poster who mentioned Compton, and I'm a different NP. |
NP First used in west coast gangsta rap, so pp was right. |
Never ever heard this phrase in my life. |
I love this phrase. Wish I had an excuse to use it... |
Ha we used to say this in my sorority when attending Greek-life events! :hangs head in shame: |
