at my kids' middle school is buying lunch at our expense.
What should we do? |
| Change your pin. |
|
I don't understand. Most schools do not offer free meals unless you qualify.
Or Is it your kid is stealing money to get lunch at school after you've already packed one from home? |
| If another kid is using your number, make a complaint. Maybe it's deliberate, but maybe the kid accidentally entered the wrong number. Get the number changed. |
| Agree that it could be an error on the part of another kid and that regardless of the reason for this, changing your pin is the answer. But, you might also want to talk to your child. One of mine gave his pin out so that his friends could buy ice cream. He thought he was being nice by sharing. Another time (different kid), someone bullied him into giving up his password. So, maybe it's a thief and maybe it's not. |

Confirm that it isn't your kid lying to you first, and then just call the school. Don't accuse, just state that money is being spent.
But first talk to your kid. |
| Are you sure your kids isn't buying seconds? I had no idea the schools allowed the kids to do this until a friend told me her kid was going back and buying 3rds and 4ths of some things. |

I am pretty sure it's not an accident. At their school they use their school ID number as a PIN to get into all systems; including clarity, school website, and lunch. There is no way one can use other student's ID number just by accident.
This thug is getting 2 to 3 $.75/item every single day. So far ~ $100 stolen. I know it's not my kid, some of the things that were bought are the kind of items that my kid would never like to eat. Also, the timestamp when the PIN is entered is not my kids lunch time. |
| I have already talked to my child. I know she lies sometimes, but this time i know for sure she is not because of the reason above. |
Seriously? Also why did you let it get to $100 before you said anything? |
| You are allowed to complain about the theft. They have a way to refund the money. |
Don't contribute anything useful to the thread, just blame the victim! |
| It may be possible that your child gave the PIN to another kid. Quit being so dramatic and get the numbers changed. |
Based on the figures "2 to 3 $.75/item every single day" this has been going on for more than 2 months. If I were the school I would also wonder why it has been going on so long before OP complained. That said just call the school and find out what is going on. Maybe a kid did steal your kids pin, maybe the kid is just using the wrong pin. As for calling a child a 'thug" , I think that is a bit below the belt. The kid isn't stealing from your child by force. I am not condoning theft, if it is indeed theft, but calling a child a thug is a bit harsh OP. |
| My DH works in a middle school and some kids are downright sneaky and mean. I don't know why posters are getting on OP's case. It is a theft. Would anyone posting OP is mean be happy if they went to the supermarket and the person ahead of them put 100 dollars worth of groceries your account that you had to pay for. If the time stamp isn't your kid's lunch it should be easy to dispute the charges. |
