| We put ours into our IRAs after 401k (we get a match on all 401k contributions so it makes sense to put our money there first), then we put it towards our kids' college education. If we have left over after that, we usually add it to a mutual fund that we have. |

This is a (legal and commonly used) loophole that lets even high-income households put money in a Roth, by first putting it in a nondeductible IRA and then shifting it to a Roth.
