There are millions of working mothers at dead-end jobs who wish their bosses would merely give them a day off work once in a while. These people are scammers living in lala land.

If all he'd said was "I really value motherhood," there is no way it would have been some kind of reported incident. Jenny Slate is, by all accounts, a fairly normal, pleasant person. I just don't believe she'd report the incident to anyone if he said something that innocuous. I don't know what he said (and neither do you), but it definitely wasn't "I just really value motherhood."

You say in this comment that you don’t know
what he said, but then go on to say you definitely know what he didn’t say. lol.

I feel confident he didn't say "I really value motherhood" because that's a totally innocuous statement and I simply do not believe that an actress with zero history of diva-ish behavior on set would get so upset about that she would report it to HR. It makes no sense. Slate has been low key and non-litigious, I think it's unfair to assume she'd do something flatly ridiculous.

Zero history of diva behavior? She was literally whining in vivid detail about a luxury apt to her rich boss. She knew exactly what she was doing.

Come on, Jenny Slate is really low profile and not that big of a name and I have heard controversial things about her. There’s stuff out there about her physically abusing Chris Evans when they dated and I’m someone is not a particular fan. I just happened to have picked this up through celebrity gossip. So please don’t say she’s got a reputation as a normal person. Or that she has zero behavior issues on set, she is simply not that high profile of an actress.

We absolutely do not know if this is out of realm for her behavior or how many other HR complaints were filed on other sets that we’ve never heard of.

I have never heard anything about her physically abusing Chris Evans, wtf. Also, isn't Jenny Slate like 5 feet tall? And Chris Evans is... Captain America? That strains credulity, sorry.

Can you cite a single actual report of her being difficult to work with or displaying difficult or concerning behavior?

I love the sexist implications you're making. So because Jenny is 5 ft tall and Chris Evans is taller with muscles, that must mean she couldn't physically abuse him? Did we not read about Christian Obumseli who was beat and stabbed to death in Miami by his much smaller OF girlfriend? Does Jodi Arias ring a bell? This is absolutely asinine on your part.

There is zero evidence that Jenny Slate ever physically abused Chris Evans. Zero. What is asinine is you lodging that accusation against Slate based on nothing in order to discredit her. You are grotesque. I don't believe in hell but kind of wish I did because it would exist for people like you.

It's not an accusation when it's quoted directly from the horses' mouth. She states verbatim on the Anna Faris' podcast

"I have never hit anybody as much as Chris"
"I slapped him so much"
"I hit him so much"
"I came back from making our movie and starting hit some of our friends cause I hit him so much"
"I hit my husband and he was like "nobody likes that, you shouldn't hit people"
[i]

And just for emphasis, she makes sure to state it several times so you know exactly in what context she was using it and when it happened. Self-admission is a b_1 tch. Sounds like a place in Hell is being reserved nicely for you and her.

You are taking something out of context as a gotcha. I remember that episode and she was clearly kidding/exaggerating for comic effect.

First I was told I had "no evidence". Now it was "out of context" and she was "kidding" and "exaggerating". No, she wasn't. Repeating five times that you hit someone isn't remotely comedic. And the fact that she had to quote her husband telling her that she shouldn't be hitting people and that nobody likes it, shows clear intent of action and that it wasn't a "comedic" act.

Pay attention people. Reverse the roles with Baldoni and you'll see the parallels and hypocrisies of the defenses being made here.

You did take it out of context though. Because the context is that Slate and Evans did that interview together. He's sitting right next to her when she says those things. They are both laughing about it. It's quite clear that the hitting is a joke between them, not some abusive relationship. It's also clear she's not hitting him in anger but like slapping him on the arm as a joke.

Also they weren't even together when that interview happened. Slate was married to someone else and they were just costars doing promotional stuff for their movie. The reason that interview is controversial is because Slate then got divorced and she and Evans wound up together and in the interview it's clear they have crazy chemistry and people have speculated that they were already together and Slate cheated on her husband. I have no idea. It's true they have chemistry. But on the podcast when they talk about Jenny hitting him, Anna also makes comments about him "poking" her and just them being very physical with each other. And then they joke about how Jenny hits him all the time, but when you have the context of them at the time being "friends" and her being married and then later she divorces and they date, you get the vibe that they weren't fighting at all, that she wasn't hitting him and he wasn't poking her, they were super into each other and using this joking, friendly "slaps" and "pokes" as an excuse to touch each other.

It *is* controversial but not because anyone actually thinks Slate physically abused Evans. No one things that, including Chris Evans. It's controversial because they were on the podcast as "friends" and then later they were much more than friends and they had all this physical contact during the interview that they pass off as friendly "rough housing" (that's the word Evans uses to explain their situation and compares it to him and his siblings when they were kids) which it turned out was probably just foreplay.

To cast that as "Jenny Slate physically abused Chris Evans" is intentionally misleading if not an outright lie. I can't tell if you are doing it on purpose knowing that the goal here is to try and make Slate look bad so the people don't believe that she could have been truthful in reporting that Heath said something inappropriate to her, or if you are just parroting what some TikToker (who was honestly probably paid by Baldoni's PR people) said. But it's wrong. It's out of context and doesn't even make sense when you understand the context.

I am not either of the posters that you have been debating with, but I will say I have heard rumors about this. Just like inappropriate behavior with them. I never would’ve said it was abuse.

It sounds like it really was not a big deal, and thank you for clearing it up.

I think peoples point is though there is stuff out there about Jenny. It is important for people to actually look into things and get the full context, you are right. But I think someone was trying to position her as an actress where there is a ton of information out there about her and all of it is good. And I think the fact is, there’s really not that much information out there about her because she’s not that famous, and some of what is out there is weird. I agree there was absolutely no abuse and nothing even concerning about her relationship with Chris, but I also think it’s strange that I know very little about Jenny, but I have heard this weird, even if totally innocuous, anecdote. And it’s true that even totally innocuous, it has rubbed some people the wrong way.

Had Blake simply moved on, we would not be here. The internet had already forgot the controversy by December with the film having been a hit. She was angry over the fact that her haircare and alcohol line bombed and the internet dragged her for being tone deaf. So then she wanted to take the extra step to be vindictive and vicious and file the SH claim retaliation claim in the NYT and courts. She got herself into something she never imagined because she was given modified and incomplete text messages from Leslie Sloan and had zero clue of the financial backing Baldoni had in Sorowitz to fight her all the way through and the fact that he had so many receipts to rebuttal every point she had. Had she known all of this, she would have never gone through with it. Inevitably, her famous friends that she wanted to keep out will be subpoenaed as well as her and Ryan's phone. She's gonna lose everything because of her own narcissism and hubris. Including her husband because I bet when he finds out she wasn't actually sexually harassed but just told him that for sympathy or revenge, he's gonna divorce her. It's so much worse coming down the pipeline for her.

I will do you one better, and say if she had not iced him out of the premier, and just instead acted even a tiny bit professional like millions of other costars who have had tensions on set have done, I am betting we would’ve never seen the 2016 little baby bump interview, or a bunch of resurfaced interviews about her. I also think that while some of the things she did like the hairline and promoting her drink line were inappropriate, I think the backlash would not have been as bad if Justin had been there with her to handle more of the heavy stuff. I think her marketing approach would have stood out a lot less.

In short, I think everyone would be a lot happier about now and could’ve gone on their separate ways.

Exactly! And just look how hard the Baldoni defenders are going after Slate now. I agree with you that half of these tik tocs are probably posted by people being paid by his PR team and/or Jed Wallace. Lost respect for these posters.

+1, watching people try to tear down Jenny Slate and discredit her based on absolutely nothing is really opening my eyes, frankly. At least with Lively there was some behavior that I absolutely think was problematic -- I remember when that interview with the Norwegian journalist made the rounds last summer, I very much agreed she was over the line in the interview.

But this stuff about Slate is so obviously people fishing for something to take out of context to discredit her with. It's unnerving. This is not an okay way to treat a woman just because she made an allegation of inappropriate behavior on set. To me it is revealing the degree to which the pro-JB crowd maybe just really hate women and love trashing them.

Nobody's pro-Baldoni. More like pro-truth and fairness. When you decide to be wicked and hijack someone else's creative endeavor and then after getting everything you wanted try to slander and destroy him with claims of sexual harrassment, then bring in friends and associates to help your devious acts, everything is off the table. Everything you said and did that was problematic will be called to question, including your witnesses.

Exactly. There is definitely a history of women making complaints about men and being dismissed as being difficult or untruthful. So we can acknowledge that for Jenny.,

But we also must acknowledge that there is a history of white women being uncomfortable around black men for seemingly innocuous behavior, and reporting them to authority, whether HR or the police.

What is more likely?

Blake Lively and Jenny Slate, two actresses with very different reputations, personalities, and sense of humor, both decided to accuse Baldoni and Heath of inappropriate, harassing behavior on the set of this movie because, after all, women love to lie about being harassed and also women who make SH accusations are treated so great and it goes very well for them. And both women specifically complained about inappropriate comments/behavior concerning women as mothers, which is a very specific way of making inappropriate comments to women.

OR

A bunch of inappropriate stuff happened on that set and at least two actresses were bothered by it and made complaints about it.

I agree with this also, though am waiting for discovery and depositions.

Well, I’m actually going to go with the first one. Because Blake was incredibly problematic and power-hungry on that set. And we have caught her in some lies and missing context. And I think she definitely influenced Jenny.

Read her interview about poisoning the GG cast against Penn Badgley at first. She was like when he first came on I didn’t like him and so just decided to poison the cast against him lol. But then obviously he won me over so I had to smooth things over.

And I’m sorry, but it’s very possible that Blake and Jenny have some bias they don’t even realize where a black man has done harmless things that they found threatening. It certainly would not be the first instance of this happening.

I choose option 3- the set was not ran very professionally, Lively created much of the tension in addition to Baldoni and Heath. BL ran roughshod over JB and influenced other cast members to complain about what most would just vent to their friends about. JB conceded to her demands to get the film completed. BL publicly shut him out if his own movie and JB acted to protect himself.

Has anyone found out whether Jenny Slate actually formally lodged a complaint to Sony or simply complained about an inappropriate comment and word got back to Sony? Because the THR article has changed the wording. It's interesting if the initial claim is to be believed, how was she able to go to Sony with a complaint about a comment as innocuous as the sanctity of motherhood and Blake was allegedly not in regards to sexual harassment and told to report to wayfarer? Wouldn't they not have told Jenny to report back to Wayfarer as well? None of this adds up.
