I am thinking of putting some ceiling fans in the smaller bedrooms in my house, and I don't want them to overwhelm the room. One of the sites I was reading said that white fans help solve this problem by sort of blending into the ceiling, but I am not sure I really like the look of white ceiling fans. What do you think? |
I can't imagine any other color in a bedroom unless you have a natural wood ceiling. |
Really pp? Two of the ones in our house are wood/metal, and the other is white. I don't like the look of the metal parts painted white. What do you think of this one?

I understand OP, I also think white ceiling fans look.... (to me) kind of country looking, and not in a good way.
I prefer fans where the wood grain compliments the furniture. That said, I think there are some interesting ones out there, that don't look like the entry price point at home depot ceiling fans. Just be prepared to do some hunting and then for it to be more expensive than other options. |
Oh give me a break. White is fine and I am by no means "country". I think it's ridiculous to match fan to the wood grain of the furniture... now that's is country. Do you also match your shoes and purse? ![]() |
Here's a bunch for inspiration.

We live in a 1940s house with 8ft ceilings so all of our ceiling fans are white and flush-mounted. I wanted them to blend in as much as possible and not draw attention to the already-low ceiling height. |
Home Depot has a good selection. They often come with lighting kits, for the ones that are fans alone. I've used my ceiling fans as accent pieces (if that makes sense?), replacing the white plastic ones that came with the house with a "rubbed bronze" that highlights the mahogany color of the crown molding in my bedroom and the brushed nickle of the appliances in the kitchen. I don't know the ceiling height, but it seems to work. |
Do you often internalize generalized statements and then attempt to insult the original person who simply shared their opinion? If so, you should see someone about that. OP, I think the houzz link is a good resource, you should find something you like. As you can see you'll get a myriad of opinions |
I disagree with this OP - I like that white blends into the ceiling, but just make sure it's high quality and not cheap plastic-looking. I find that the "wood grain" blinds look tacky. I've seen dark colors like oil rubbed bronze or metallic that look nice, but wood stained/faux wood just looks so 1980s, ew!! |
Sorry meant "fans" not "blinds" |
I have whote ceilings andi like them. |
I love them because I think of ceiling fans as necessary evils. Ones that contrast with the ceiling stand out and make the ceilings seem lower. They by no means have to look country. We got a very sleek, modern looking one for our bedroom and it's great. |
I like the white and metal ones. I do not like the all-white ones, however. |
+10000 Arbitrary "rules" be damned. |
