and had to spend it in one (1) day, how would you do it? |
Pay off my mortgage
Buy one fabulous dress each for the kids Get a mani/pedi Scour the streets for a homeless woman who doesn't look like she would spend it on drugs and give the rest to her. |
I would take half and pay off my mortgage and give the rest to my sister so she and her husband could afford to buy a house. |
Pay off mortgage
Put away private school and college money for the kids Re-do the bathroom and get the kitchen painted Buy DH a very nice car Shop at Nordstrom all day |
Pay off the house (300K).
529 plans and prepaid tuition (100K). New car (35K). Save the rest in a money market account (565K). |
Oh, I did not see that we had to SPEND it. Well I guess I would not be able to do the money market thing. I would use the rest to pay off my sisters and brothers mortgages, and have them pay me back, no interest over 10 years. |
Are we assuming taxes? Usually most gifts/prizes are taxed at 50 percent arent' they?
If so, I'd pay of my mortgage, my car, and then go on a shopping spree (clothes that fit and aren't a decade old, new sneakers and work-out clothes)...with the small amount left (a million doesn't go far anymore does it?) |
I like the way you think. ![]() |
oh I have this dream all the time. I'd buy a house, and replace my shabby sofa. I'd buy a dance studio and start up programs for underprivileged kids or moms. And, I'd renovate my family's hometown in the Philippines. |
Pay off our mortgage and our parents' mortgages.
Pay off student loans. Do we really have to spend the rest? If so, I guess I'd buy a really expensive handbag and a small house in my hometown. If we can save it, I'd save it for a rainy day. |
you guys don't really know how much 1 million dollars is...
LOL |
Pay off mortgage
Buy a VA pre-paid education for both my kids. IF I can still afford one on a million dollars. |
Where can I sign up for this contest? |
Yeah. In my neighborhood, that wouldn't quite buy a large row house outright, though it would probably leave me with an affordable (for a middle-income type like me) mortgage. It would buy two condos like mine. I guess I would buy a fancier condo and have a little left over to decorate- something with gorgeous period features that I would fill with minimalist modern furniture! Maybe I would just move the family to NYC and have a little to get us started on a better footing than we would have without that million! |
Is this million taxable? Cause if it is, I'll have to revise my proposal! |
