I made my answer based on the million being net of taxes, too. Probably best not to get into that level of analysis because I don't think that was the OP's intent. OP, thanks for the fun Friday post! |
Are you saying people are overspending or underspending? Maybe some of them have million dollar mortgages. |
Yeah, I'm the poster who said I'd pay off my mortgage, our parents' mortgages, student loans, and buy a handbag and a small house in my hometown. I am pretty sure that would be fairly close to a million dollars, give or take some (though I admit to not knowing exactly how much is left on the parents' mortgages). |
9:40/11:06 here. Let's just keep this a fun thread and ignore people who are trying to belittle others or suggest people do or do not know how much a million is. Who cares? Let's not take the bait and have fun.
Love the poster who said a handbag would be on her list. Very tempting, but I'm going with dresses for the girls. But if it ever happens to you, will you at least take me bag shopping with you? ![]() |
I'd pay off the mortgage - and with whatever is left over, I'd get a tummy tuck and a boob lift. |
buy a home on the Oyster school district OR pre-pay tuiton at WIS for k-12 and use the remainder to put toward a home not in woodley park (someplace fun like Adams Morgan or Columbia Heights or Mount Pleasant). |
Pay off mortgage and student loans, buy the biggest grand piano for my daughter that our house could hold, buy my husband a rolex, my son a trip to Egypt to see real archaeologists at work and me? Yes, I admit it, I would have to treat myself to one heckuva bag just like another PP said. And for the family, I would buy a million frequent flier miles so the grandparents could come whenever they wished. |
Give it all to our synagogue. Part of it would be used to pay to bring in Phil Collins w/Genesis to perform at a milestone Saturday night event (ie 20th anniversary of the building, Rabbi retiring, etc,....) |
Pay off any debts we have.
Take a really fantastic family vacation. Invest some. Put some in the baby's saving account. Put some in our savings account. Use some to help out various charities. |
