| What does your son like for breakfast? My ds never used to eat anything in the morning (even though I always made him breakfast), but all of a sudden he eats all of his breakfast and says he's still hungry. He doesn't eat cereal really, or oatmeal, so I make a hot breakfast. Usually eggs, toast and turkey bacon or one of those jimmy dean egg white & turkey sausage sandwiches from Costco. Today I gave him an English muffin with cream cheese. But I'm looking for ideas of a good, filling breakfast so it's not the same thing every day. I'm glad to see him eating breakfast, so I'd love some ideas. I try to avoid too much dairy in the morning, so I don't give him yogurt or milk. He has yogurt & milk later in the day, but not in the morning. |

Sounds like he's growing. Try for really filling protein foods. My kids current favorite are breakfast burritos-- eggs, black beans and rice are the staples. Then they can add salsa, avocado or grilled chicken depending upon what's in the fridge.
I add a glass of milk but you said no dairy so maybe a glass of water. |
| My has MY green smoothie (spinach, almond milk, banana, frozen pineapples and frozen mango) every morning! |
| Avocado toast on sprouted grain bread is a good idea, along with some eggs and bacon... |
That sounds really good! Thanks! He has a weak stomach in the morning and milk exacerbates it. I used to ask him to at least have milk if he wouldn't eat, and he'd get sick. I will try offering milk again in the summer when he doesn't have to go to school in the morning. |
Yum! I wonder if that would work with peach instead of mango? We don't really like mango. |

Here are some of our breakfasts...
- Fried eggs, toast, sausage - Scrambled eggs on English muffin with orange juice - Pancakes and fruit (I have recipes for pumpkin pancakes and oatmeal pancakes... I make a bunch on a weekend and freeze them, and then I just pop them in the toaster) - Peanut butter toast and fruit (usually bananas, berries... sometimes oranges or melon) - Oatmeal with milk and brown sugar (though this probably wouldn't work for you!) - Waffles and fruit (like the pancakes, I have healthy recipes for oatmeal waffles and zucchini waffles... freeze them and use toaster on school morning) - Egg, bean, cheese breakfast burritos (I also can make these ahead of time and freeze, but they are quick to prepare in the morning from scratch. Just scramble up some eggs with stuff and put it in a tortilla) - Biscuits with bacon |
| It sounds like your kid is lactose intolerant. Have you tried lactose free milk? |
| My son has never eaten breakfast either, for years. Until this fall. His favorites are egg and cheese on an English muffin or Chicken Apple sausage links. |
No, he does fine if he's been awake for a couple hours. But he does like almond or soy or coconut milk, too. So I guess that's an option. Thanks for the ideas. Good to see that my son isn't the only one who wants a hot breakfast every day

or chocolate almond milk? |
| Can you share th recipe for oat or pumkin pancakes? |
| My kids love toast or English muffins toasted with peanut butter on top and then a drizzle of honey. A peanut butter and jelly or honey is another good breakfast to eat on the way to school. |
Vanilla Rice milk is my DD's favorite. She gets an upset stomach and diareah every time she consumes dairy. Except for yogurt... she can handle that I'm assuming because of the natural probiotics. |
We do it with apples instead of the mango. Tastes great! Or you could just skip the mango and apples altogether. The bananas and pineapples will make it plenty sweet. Especially if you use extra ripe bananas. |
