I somehow let myself get dehydrated Friday or Saturday and have felt terrible ever since. It's like having a three day hangover. Throbbing head, nausea, diarrhea, feeling woozy. I've tried drinking tons of water, Vitamin Water, ginger ale for the nausea, eating a lot, eating nothing, eating salty foods. Nothing is working. Any advice?
Alternately, does anyone know where I can get an IV, no questions asked. |
| I'd go to urgent care, there may be an underlying issue |
| What do you mean by no questions asked? An ER will give you the proper hydration you need without a ton of questions. I'm Not sure what you're trying to avoid though |
They will ask some questions about how you got that way. You could always just say you got a stomach bug (I actually was in the ER for dehydration after a stomach bug), and they will want bloodwork, etc. |
| They won't drug test if that's your concern |
It was sort of a joke. I meant without having to go to urgent care or the ER. I feel awful, but I'm still at work and still have two kids to deal with tonight. Ugh, the prospect of dinner makes me nauseous. |
No, no. Sorry. Dry sense of humor fail. |
| OP, try some chicken broth or bullion to see if it helps. Sometimes the salt really makes the difference. |
| Potassium deficiency? Try bananas. |
| My cousin spent last weekend in the hospital for dehydration. Seriously. Have you tried Pedialyte or Gatorade? The water and vitamin water aren't going to fix this. |
Also bananas like a PP suggested. I know one of the drips my cousin got was some sort of potassium. |

Sport drinks
Pedialyte Lemonade If that doesn't work, then go to urgent care. They will hook you up. |
| Coconut water |
| Thanks for the suggestions! |
| If you've already had tons of water, you're probably not dehydrated anymore. Perhaps you're still recovering from the virus that caused the problem. |
