I don't know my SIL well because they live in England, and dh doesn't have much relationship with his sister at all. She's always seemed perfectly nice to me the few times I have seen her, but this morning she showed her true colors:
SIL sent me an email asking that I change our new kitten's name because it is her number one pick for the child she has yet to conceive. This is from a woman who rarely contacts me. She discovered my kitten's name, I think, because MIL came to stay with us recently. The email is weird in tone, full of misspellings, and makes me think she was drunk when she wrote it. Here's a sample from the email: "We cant be lik sisters if you do this becuase baby names are special"... SIL is not married or dating. Dh laughed bitterly when he saw it and told me that there is a reason we don't live in his country. I don't really have a question about this, but I'm posting to share the craziness (and prevent me from whipping off a reply to crazy SIL). |
Just ignore it. Pretend you never got it. |
Oh yeah, that's some drunk emailing.
Let it go and continue to call your kitten whatever you want. |
OP, you have to tell us kitty's name, please.
She is crazy. |
Is the cat's name "Kitty"? |
This exactly. |
Tell her you will do it. Then act as you please. How will she know the difference? |
One word response back: "O.k."
And she can take that to mean whatever she wants it to mean. No you should not change your kitty cat's name! |
Nah, don't even respond with an "ok." No response is needed. |
Change the cats name...
To your SIL name. |
Just out of curiosity, your DH didn't pick the kittens name right? B/c there is a slight chance he is stirring the pot... Though the chance any brother knows his sisters potential baby names is vanishingly small |
Drunk or some sort of mental disability, like aspergers - but I'd guess you'd know if she had that kind of issue. |
Ignore it, OP. Drunk emails don't require a response. If she sends another one, that's when you reply, "OK" and keep your kitty's name. She'll get over it. |
Aspergers isn't a "mental disability." WTF is wrong with you. The woman was obviously drunk. People complain all the time on this site about family members "using" a coveted name. She obviously was drunk and feeling sorry for herself. OP, please don't respond at all to her. She may not even have remembered emailing. |
