3 kids, 60k this upcoming school year in childcare/tuition. Are we insane?

| Hh income with both DH and I employed full time is 255k. Tuition cost for private kindergarten is 12k, and 2 younger kids full time childcare will cost approximately 48k. Is this insane? Am I right to be stressed about this? Dh says it's fine and only way since we both need to work. Need opinions please. |

Can you break things down a bit more, both in terms of your net income and tuition/childcare?
The $12k tuition seems pretty reasonable as far as DC area tuitions go. What kind of care do you have for your younger two? If you're paying for daycare for those two plus before/aftercare for the oldest, you might be able to shave it down a bit by getting a nanny who can also help with the oldest on days when school isn't in session and save you aftercare/camp costs. It is a large chunk of your income, but what is your alternative for your oldest and how would that change the bottom line? What are your other debts and monthly obligations? |
