I am 5'4 and weigh 133 at present. I started to really try to lose the rest of my baby weight about 2 months ago, when I was 140 and ready to fully wean. I want to get down to 125 by early August, but the weight will not budge over the last few weeks. I exercise at least 4 times a week (mostly 3.5 mile runs in the morning) and I eat reasonably.
What should I do to shed these final pounds? It seems the last ones are the hardest. Any help or ideas are appreciated!! |

Do you weight train?
When you run, do you mix up your tempo? Switching things up could help. |
| Track the food you eat. I like weight watchers for this. You may be surprised by the difference between how much you think you're eating and how much you're actually eating. |
| 125 is pretty small for 5-4, depending on your body type, and might be a pipe dream for you post-baby and as you get older. It's natural to gain a little weight as you age. Your body might be trying to tell you something. |
| I'm right with you OP. But I'm 5'8 and weigh 160. Desperately trying to at least get down to 150. I walk about 4 miles a day and do Power 90 (cardio and weight training videos) six days a week. The weight is slowly coming off since I added weight training to my routine. |
I don't agree with this. 5 lbs for every inch over 5' is a very reasonable middle of the road weight for most women. Try mixing up your workouts, speed work, some longer runs, weights, etc. Unfortanately you may be more about diet as well. |
And I disagree. I think this is a reasonable guideline for young women or women with small frames, not really for most older or postpartum women. We don't know how old OP is or what her pre-pregnancy weight was, but in my view if she's in her mid-30s and has an average frame, 125 is on the small side of "ideal" and may just be extremely difficult to attain without a very strict diet. I think we both agree she could get down to 125 with diet, but it's awfully hard if your body's ideal healthy weight is 5-10 lbs more and your body is fighting you. |
| Try eliminating sugar from your diet (including alchhol) and limiting the carbs after lunch. |
| You are probably the correct weight, that is why you can't lose more weight. |
I commend OP for wanting to be fit. 5'4" and 125 sounds very healthy. As we get older it does get more challenging to lose baby weight. I've been there, OP! I started doing Corepower Sculpt classes and walking an hour 4-5 times a week and dropped my weight from 135 (at 6 months postpartum) to 120 (13 months postpartum). No one should use being older or postpartum as an excuse (Unless you are happy with your weight). If you want to work hard you can reach any goal weight and stay there with a healthy lifestyle. |

OP have you weaned? I lost 10 lbs in a month after weaning.

| OP im 5'4 and my ideal weight is 115 lbs. Im slowly losing those last 10 bls by cutting out all processed carbs and doing it slowly. |

OP here. I am 36 and have had three kids. I weaned for good a little over two months ago, which was about 15 months pp. Before babies, I could stay at 125 with regular exercise alone, and would go to 130 if I stopped exercising for a period.
Anyway, thanks for the suggestions and comments. They are encouraging and have given me some good ideas to reach my goals. I've never been great at dieting and certainly struggle with a sweet tooth, but think this may be the moment to fix that. |
| NP- Any ideas of where I could find a nutrition/coach to help with the last 10? |
