Ha. Good point. My guess is that many of the DCUMers who think this way come from the kind of money and privilege that has prevented them from ever having to deign to work in a service industry. |
It seems really important to several posters that the rest of us understand that Rachel isn’t hot. Why? |
I didn't get hot from her (the character was too childish and needy), but I don't think she has a little girl's body. |
She was just too skinny, untoned, and lacked confidence. It made the scene where she threw off her coverup to strut her stuff in front of Olivia and Paula unbelievable. She wouldn’t likely have done that, and they certainly wouldn’t have sat up and taken off their sunglasses to marvel at her hotness. |
I don’t know how to tell you this in a way that you will come to believe it, but many, many people don’t share your opinion. It’s your opinion; that’s all it is. |
^^ New poster:
I think she was pretty with a great body, but her beauty was everyday beauty. Meaning: she’s like a striking girl you’d see walking around the mall. Not a lot of makeup, but good skin, good body, good eyes, symmetrical face, etc. combined it makes her pretty - very pretty. But she wasn’t the most attractive person I’ve ever seen… |
And many of us don’t think Rachel is as hot as you think she is. She is pretty but not that pretty. She’d make a great arm candy to a DMV “provider” which is exactly the character she is portraying in the White lotus. |
I don’t even think she’s particularly hot. I’m just saying that most people would. That’s just reality. So I don’t get the point of all of the posters who keep pointing out that they don’t think she’s hot. All right already. Duly noted. |
Different poster here, Rachel wasn't that attractive to me. |
If you're posting that you don't think Rachel is hot, please state whether you are a man or a woman and your sexual orientation.
Because I think most hetero men find her hot. |
If she were jaw-dropping hot it wouldn't be credible that she is afraid of being his "plus one" forever and not be able to make her own career or be notable/memorable on her own. She's exactly the right amount of hot for her story line. |
I don't think the "in his lifetime" thing matters that much. My family's homestead was seized by imminent domain... in the 1920s. I am still very aware of the seizure, and what it cost us (it was a major strip of the PCH). If the government today moved the PCH so that beautiful coastline could be built on, I would want to sue. |
Rachel's lips looked chapped and dry, and she was very pasty in complexion. affectless tone, not a good actress, bland, not gettong the hype. She looks loke a blander Sarah Michelle Gellar or Mandy Moore. yawn. Paula was well acted and also gorgeous! |
I agree! I think it's why she is also so uncomfortable with being a trophy. In my opinion, her look is very "cute" and pretty, but doesn't scream "HOT!" and her character doesn't seem like someone who has gone through life almost universally regarded as sex-symbol level hot or where she would primarily be valued in life for her looks. She's obviously uncomfortable with it and seems slightly surprised that's how she's regarded by others in her marriage. I think if jaw-droppingly hot that would be disingenuous you could make it to your 30s and be coy about looking like a supermodel, but with her look it is more plausible. |
Rachel is hot. She is hotter than 99.99999% of the women of DCUM. That’s why they rip on her so hard. |
