US trade deficit rises 5.9% to $67.1 billion in August, highest since August 2006.

I am tired of all the winning.

The fact that there's certainly already a recession and likely an incipient depression means this topic is closed. If rationality is in play at all, Trump loses.

I pray for the economy of our nation. That people will still be able to eat. And that the Republicans are stopped before we become a full-fledged under-developed country.

“The expansion is still far from complete,” Mr. Powell said in his strongest remarks to date on the subject, delivered to a virtual conference of private-sector economists Tuesday. “At this early stage, I would argue that the risks of policy intervention are still asymmetric. Too little support would lead to a weak recovery, creating unnecessary hardship.”

By contrast, the risks of providing too generous relief are smaller, he said. “Even if policy actions ultimately prove to be greater than needed, they will not go to waste,” he said.

A few hours after Mr. Powell spoke, President Trump said he was suspending negotiations with congressional Democrats over steps to extend unemployment benefits that lapsed in July and to provide additional aid to hard-hit businesses, cities and states.

Mr. Trump said the economy was doing well without additional spending and that he would revisit any talks next month.

“I have instructed my representatives to stop negotiating until after the election,” Mr. Trump said on Twitter. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell around 500 points, or around 1.8%, immediately after the statement.

After a monthslong impasse, negotiations between House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin had picked up in recent days as congressional Democrats and the White House explored a possible breakthrough before the Nov. 3 election.

So if he is going to lose, he may as well be the biggest, most vindictive and callous fool of them all, and try to shred the economy with it. He shits where he eats then moves to do the same in a new neighborhood.

And thus, Trump will tank the US economy, and the GOP and Cabinet will sit on their hands and let it happen.
