What is Barr up to, with the attempt to visit her yesterday?

I never bought the whole story about how Barr's dad hired Epstein as a teacher, so now he's worried about besmirching the family name. That seems coincidental and easy to dismiss. Unless Barr himself was a student there at the time and they were buddies, but I've never seen that talked about.

I worry that Barr will get Ghislaine to spill on tons of people--but not Trump, his name will be held back. Barr's attempt to visit Ghislaine sounds a lot like meddling. Or like trying to strike a deal before she says word one. Or something more sinister than just protecting Barr's dad's name.

Why speculate? Barr has the full and complete legal right to visit with her. It's not meddling unless you know something the rest of us don't.

OK, I'm going to play devil's advocate. I do think Barr is up to something really shady. I also think Trump probably raped a child at Epstein's house. I'm not convinced (because I haven't seen any evidence) that Barr's dad got up to something with Epstein, and that Barr was in a position at the CIA to do anything about it.

But why visit Epstein at all, right before you're planning to kill him? Why not just make sure the cameras are on the fritz, the guards are in on it, and let everybody do their jobs?

What was Barr looking for when he visited Epstein? What was the threat Barr made to Epstein? What is the threat Barr wanted to make to Ghislaine?

The threats could have gone any of several ways.
(1) We're going to off you, goodbye. But why make a personal visit that implicates you?
(2) Cooperate and give up everybody including Trump. Epstein is killed because he doesn't agree. Or, Epstein kills himself because he doesn't want to give up friends including Trump.
(3) Cooperate and give up everybody but Trump. Epstein is killed because he doesn't agree.

Update, Aug. 21: The New York Post has since removed the unfounded claim that Barr visited the prison, saying: “This story has been updated to remove references to a purported visit to the MCC by Attorney General William Barr because the source of the information did not have direct knowledge that the visit took place.”
