I don’t have a dog in the fight but I can see why some parents are upset, and they have every right to file a lawsuit. Good for them!

Just let this play out. Dont know why yall are so bothered all the time.

I think many of us are bothered that these people keep crying about mismanagement of money and then do crap like this that forces MCPS to further waste money. What's worse is that they KNOW this is a loser of a case and just intend to drag it out and force the county to spend more. It makes them look terribly selfish and furthers the belief that they don't give a rat's ass about any kids except their own who, not for nothing, aren't actually being harmed.

They are saying the building is unsafe. Most aren’t even parents.

I would really like my kid to get to experience a new school with new equipment and give the teachers a chance to teach in that sort of environment. I think it will do a lot of good for everyone.

I fear that the lawsuit will just kick the can down the road and waste energy, resources and in the interim, Crown will sit vacant.

They are planning to renovate the school in order to use it as a holding school. What do you mean we have no money to fix it? We only have money to build schools that are not needed? Miss me with that.

That's in the future CIP, 5+ years from now. There's no money currently.

Wootton will move to a new school for now. It's a better use of the "Save Wootton" money to lobby / donate to the BoE + County Council to fund renovations in the future rather than launch an ill-fated lawsuit. The judge can't and won't force MCPS to rebuild Wootton; at best, it'll be a delay.

It's better to get council members and BoE members that support rebuilding Wootton, since they're the ones with the actual purse strings.

Use the money to buy things that the new school needs that MCPS doesn't fund.

At best, they could force MCPS to keep the Wootton building open as a school, but what I don't get was the entire campaign was about the school building being unsafe.

Notice how they've left Magruder out to dry? All that Wootton saviorism, "let those poor people have a new school--we will suffer" and then BAM, haven't heard from them since.

You srsly have no idea what is going on if you think Magruder isn’t involved in the suits. Pay attention!

Srsly, WHAT SUITS? There haven't been any yet. Just talk. And only by Wootton, not Magruder.

And leave the new building empty? Make that make sense.

And the org is registered.

Yawn. Please stop talking if you have no idea what you are talking about.

So you're saying they lost their status already?

What’s the name?

CEPA — Community and Education Policy Alliance

They never had charity status to begin with, they are still in the application phase.

Right. They can't legally fundraise in Maryland yet.

Why can’t they just accept it and move on? I’m so so so tired of the fighting. This is a waste of money. Wootton is falling apart. The building is in awful condition. Crown will be a beautiful new building with room for Wootton. I want Wootton to stay open on Wootton Parkway as it has been but in a renovated or new space. We aren’t getting that. The kids deserve better. Most of the kids are happy about moving. MCPS has come up with a compromise that seems pretty reasonable given budget constraints. All the grumbling and legal threats aren’t going to change things at this point. I say this as a mom of a current Wootton student, 2 grads and a Wootton alum. Let’s move on!

How noble that after your entire family has attended from the school system, you are OK with it being dismantled. Thank you for sharing.

The select few are the loudest so they are giving the impression everyone is against it when it’s not true.

Even if that means they'll be with kids from Fields Road?

Last I checked Wootton students were FAR more dangerous than Fields Rod students. Data is your friend--look it up.
