Mcps no school wed and thursday

The only teacher that sent something out for my kid was their AP Seminar teacher who basically said, go and review all the stuff I gave you last week so we don't fall behind and waste time when we get back. There was nothing new given to them or really expected

I just wish parents cared this much about their kid's education when school is actually in session. It only mysteriously seems to happen when schools are closed.

More likely that kids are too busy working with expensive tutors to remediate the basic skills you failed to properly teach

You can get affordable tutoring online. We added extra sessions this week. Or, you can supplement at home, which is what we did in the early years.

My kid is too young to do online tutoring and needed someone with the right training

Read their emergency message today..they are already hinting at a closure on Monday. No way they will open on Friday.

Can you quote this? I didn't see anything that referenced Monday.

They did not use the word "Monday" but they said parents should prepare for an "extended closure" and referenced the possibility of snow over the weekend.

The threat of snow over the weekend has all but disappeared. Even the GFS, which was the one remaining model forecasting significant snowfall, is starting to cave to the Euro. If MCPS can't open by Monday, it's such a miserable failure of the entire school system.

It’s not just MCPS. It’s the county.

Libraries and rec centers are open. I get schools are a much heavier lift than those, but MCPS Central Office is not.

If you have time to post here during the work day, you have time to watch your school aged kids. Put on the tv or iPad.

How do you figure?
Im at work, im essentail personnel, I also have downtime at work and access to the internet. Doesnt mean I can take the day off.
I do plan for childcare though, because when you are essential you have to. Spouse and I both worked on Sunday in the snow.

What do you do for childcare on days like today, specifically, and what does it cost?

They aren't going to open on Friday

I hope not. Day 3 of digging here.

How do you figure a few minutes of downtime means pp isn’t working?

After dinner tonight I think I am going to try to attack and remove some of the plow walls on the corners of streets by my house. Put snow in the back of my truck and dump it at the ball field at the end of the street. Try to get like 2 or 3 truck loads of snow removed to increase visibility and turning out of the neighborhood

I just wish parents cared this much about their kid's education when school is actually in session. It only mysteriously seems to happen when schools are closed.

You really thought you did something here, huh? Adorable.

Not nearly as helpful as the PP for sure

Some of the private schools are going back tomorrow (Thursday) with a two hour delay. So I think it’s possible MCPS does a two hour delay Friday. But they might just view a delayed Friday opening as not worth the effort.

Even the best teachers can't teach a rock how to read.
