“And? Arrest warrants are almost always electronic. Police don't carry paper warrants anymore and haven't for years. And even if they did, police don't need a warrant to arrest a person on the street. They need PC. And bystanders have no authority to demand anything from police during an arrest. That's dangerous for everyone. This isn't new. This is basic Fourth Amendment stuff. Do you really not know that?” You are correct but video after video shows bands of men with no identification or badges and mismatched ad hoc gear subduing people on the street. Some good guy with a gun is going to exercise his second amendment rights to prevent a woman from abduction. The cluelessness of ICE proves they have no training. Every valid arrest doesn’t require slamming the target onto the pavement. |
So freaking dramatic, this is why we can't take you seriously. A U.S. marshal was mistakenly detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Arizona, officials said Friday. The deputy marshal was briefly detained in the lobby of a federal building in Tucson because he “fit the general description of a subject being sought by ICE,” according to a statement from a U.S. Marshals Service spokesperson shared with NBC News on Friday. It is not clear when the incident took place. “The Deputy US Marshal’s identity was quickly confirmed by other law enforcement officers, and he exited the building without incident,” said U.S. Marshals Service spokesperson Colleen Grayman. |
| From the news, I see that DHS and ice are preparing to attack peaceful protesters in Los Angeles. It should be a very interesting evening. I hope at least some of them recall the oath that they took to protect the constitution of the United States of America and not a corrupt fascist president. |
Of course they have training! This is all so ridiculous. Courts have already ruled on the guidelines for ICE arrests. They do not have to provide ID. Someone approached by ICE can ask for name, badge number and agency affiliation. If it’s a private home, they can request a warrant. But no - ICE is under no legal obligation to present a physical ID if it’s an operational hazard and refusal to show one doesn’t invalidate an arrest. The fact that you personally don’t like that this is legal is irrelevant. |
No one has a right to burn our country down. The cops are right to stop them. Why are you advocating for this? Why can't these people ever make their point without violence and fire? |
If you are interrupting a raid, you aren’t peaceful. If you are making threats towards law enforcement, it’s not peaceful. No one is planning attacks against peaceful protesters. |
Easily. |
ICE only has jurisdiction over people who are not citizens. Once they start arresting citizens, which they are doing now, they lose all benefit of the doubt. And all legal protection. |
They aren't burning the country down, they are protesting ICE's escalating and provoking actions. Who is starting what? Pay attention. |
I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that this guy has a history of suing LAPD - he did so in 2021 during a BLM protest. He has a history of showing up and gaining attention for…himself https://pressgazette.co.uk/news/photographer-nick-stern-sues-los-angeles-police-department/ Here he is at another protest claiming his camera was snatched https://pressfreedomtracker.us/all-incidents/photojournalists-camera-snatched-smashed-during-clashes-at-la-protest/ |
Then why am I seeing video of burning cars and protesters waving a Mexican flag by it in a sort of victory lap? And video of dark smoke billowing around the protesters? And protesters throwing rocks? Is this not happening? If not, then why did this thread start with people saying that it's a good idea to attack the federal officers? |
Rioters have thrown rocks, pieces of concrete and fireworks at law enforcement, blocked roads and set a car on fire among other acts. 118 arrests on the 7th alone. Not peaceful behavior. Let ICE do their job - laws matter. |
Mostly peaceful protests. |
If you interrupt a lawful raid or arrest, you can be arrested by ICE. They can arrest for assault, damaging federal property and interference with federal law enforcement actions. There has been NO documented arrest of a citizen by an ICE agent in La during these protests. A lot of stuff social media alleging this, but nothing documented . |
And dcum will post thread upon thread wondering why the American voters didn’t vote for Gavin for president. 🤡 |
