So you pepper spray even if they are friendly and maybe accidently got loose?

If they get near me, yes, i will pepper spray them. i have a reasonable suspicion that they are not friendly. you're lucky i dont stab them.

Well, you are lucky someone doesn't shoot you back. I would if my dog accidently got out and you stabbed him.

Bye!

Bro, you need to settle tf down. 1) containing your animal is your responsibility; 2) you don't get to shoot people because you're an emotionally unhinged person; and 3) You can't even calm and center yourself long enough to write a rational comment on an anon board. Your aim is probably worse than my toddler's.

And how would you deal with someone who is acting like a "jackass"? They are not leashing, they let dog wander onto people's yards and make no attempts to get damn dog(s) to get off yard. "jackass" is an older white man.

DP. Do you live in an HOA like the PP? If so I'd report him to the HOA and have them harass him, assuming he's violating HOA rules. If he's not violating HOA rules, I'd work to get rules about dogs into the HOA.

I would also tell him in my politest, most empathetic voice, that I have almost accidentally hit his dog with my car multiple times and I would be so incredibly distraught if I hurt a dog. But I realistically cannot drive around like an off leash dog might dash out in front of my care at any moment. See if this sinks in with him.

Not PP, but posted up thread. No, no HOA or neighborhood association. Concerned neighbors have posted on neighborhood listservs but the perpetrators may not be on those listservs so they don't know Larlo plans to pepper spray their unleashed four legged. It is the LAW to leash and if they are allowing dogs to wander on others' properties, they are trespassing. The entitlement of some people is astonishing.

100% correct.

If you can leash the off-leash dog, do so and either take it to the shelter or call animal control to pickup. If you call animal control to report the stray, they will make a note that Mr. Jerk had to come claim his dog on (blankdate). If it keeps happening, they'll have no trouble citing him and collecting fines.

It's so shite that we have to do that for crappy owners though. Why even get a dog if you're not going to care for it responsibly? SMDH

Usually, the dog is a block away from its two-legged human. Don't always know when they are making their way around to our part of the street. So, we leash it and tie it somewhere in on our own yard while waiting for animal control? That two legged will have already made it to our yard to unleash it and continue allowing the dog to roam freely. If the human steps in our yard to unleash its dog, we could claim he has trespassed. Will need to hire someone to take on this watchdog job.

I have a 50 foot leash for when we go to out into wide open areas. She normally won’t run further than that from me.

50ft? for a dog to reach front areas of a home in some neighborhoods. Do dog owners not understand that the space in front of houses is not an area their dog should be off leash?

Reading comprehension isn't your strength, eh? PP clearly said "out into wide open areas". Their dog isn't on your precious lawn.

Define "wide open areas?" Have you seen some of the lawns around?

Some people feel entitled to leave dogs off leash even in urbanish areas

Yeah, some dog owners are absolute trash. There should be a licensing exam and mandatory proof of liability insurance coverage before anyone is allowed to own a dog these days, owing to the number of people who simply can't/won't properly contain and control their animals.
