What non political controversial position do you hold?

Any graduations besides high school and college. Just stop with the Pre-K and Kindy cap and gowns.

And FTLOG any mom who says a “She said yes” to a tricking HS Promposal needs to spend time scrubbing grout!!

Sleeping in the same bed with your significant other is highly overrated.

I’m a Pastafariab, I would be fine with it.

Not going so far as to say abuse. But we chose to keep our kid out of church until she could make the decision to attend herself and think critically about what she's hearing. So high school maybe? College? We are both recovering from being raised as Southern Baptists.

Psychological disorders/categorize are arbitrary and subjective. You cant categorize people that neatly.

Unless you have Celiac or Crohn’s, stop being nasty to the college age waitress because the restaurant doesn’t offer gluten free options. Also the menu is online and states there are no gluten free options. So if you really are gluten intolerant it is your own damn fault you showed up.

It’s drivel, I get it’s enjoyable but so is the Internet. People use it to escape just like reading the internet.

Any argument you can make for reading non-fiction you can say the same about surfing the net.

People who get their ego from grammar and spelling are the same people that are having a heart attack reading my opinion.

Yes, there is no difference between the words of Shakespeare, or Toni Morrison, or unhinged posters on DCUM.

Shakespeare and Toni Morrison didn't write non fiction.. that isn't what they ae notable for.

No. It is not. Alcoholism is a disease and so is obesity. You are a fool.

Somehow people managed to be much slimmer a few decades ago.

Sedentary habits and diets are certainly behind a great deal of obesity.

They also managed to be shorter

By an inch or 2, but the pounds? Yikes. It really is a choice. Food, especially junk, fatty stuff is everywhere. Show some self control. If you don't buy it you can't eat it.

You sound idiotic.

Weed shouldn't be legalized for recreational use. Medical use? It should be studied, refined and used even more extensively than it now is. But recreational use is a terrible idea. Alcohol is bad enough. We don't need another legal substance people can use to numb themselves. Unfortunately, alcohol already does that pitiful job just fine.

DCUM's weed lovers will just hate that opinion, I know. But they won't remember it once they've smoked, later today. Spare me the "you should relax and smoke weed!" posts about it too.

I agree! Just when society finally cut down on cigarette smoking, now weed is cool??

Agree 100%.

The last is funny. You were a baby and toddler once.

This is the most idiotic line. I’ll be a corpse one day, but I don’t want to eat next to one in a restaurant.

That isn't just controversial, it's so ignorant. I have ADHD. Damn, I wished I had been diagnosed in my youth and gotten proper treatment. My life is night/day with treatment.

I think adhd is a normal variation on behavior that helped propel society forward (someone had to be the dreamers and the doers!). But now schools want to medicate it instead of adapting the school environment to help kids succeed. (Not that medication is bad, but why should it be the first thing teachers and admins say needs to be done, instead of having special Ed classrooms adapted to adhd kids?)

But it doesn’t propel society forward anymore. Society now demands focus. Not just in classrooms but in almost jobs as well. I absolutely agree there is an overemphasis on sitting down and shutting up, and that many accommodations for movement are needed. But this is the world we live in.

I have adHD ad hyper focus isn't a problem.. its the way that we are expected to fit into society. im a researcher and found that the same had symptoms that destroyed my life prior to my 30s are superpowers for me now. I can learn things super fast, I still have a "young" brain, in fact its easier now, I can get massive amounts of work done, the aging ADHD brain is amazing and the fact that we make young children with add suffer so much when that su the easier time to accommodate their difference is extremely sa. Plenty of highly accomplished people are highly accomplished adults BECAUSE of the traits they have from adhd and they suffered as children.

Possums do so much more to benefit our ecosystem, but people are skeeved out by them because of the tail. We need more possums and fewer squirrels.

I think the American college system, with the emphasis on athletics and extracurriculars for college admissions, and portfolios instead of test scores, is a lot of nonsense. We should do it the way many European countries do it and go strictly by grades and test scores. Fewer people should be going to college, and there should be better job skill training for those who don't.

I don't think European athletes belong anywhere on US college teams.

+1
And what irrationally irks me to no end is when professionals in tennis or golf live here in the U.S., train here, even grow up here, etc. and then compete for another country. Go live there, then.

Yes. Especially in the Olympics, where they can’t compete in the U.S. talent pool, but use their mother’s heritage to compete for some tiny little country where they’ll be the only athlete in their sport. BS. You should have to compete for the country where you live. If you’re not good enough, oh well.
