Hello
I am wondering if there is the chance that any parents on here have children at Wayside Elementary school in Potomac. I know it ranked 12th out of 800 + schools recently and that its not over crowded. If anyone can give me specific feedback, from the POV of a parent with a child currently enrolled, I'd be really glad to hear it. |

Here is a news story about a current parent and her concerns for her child at Wayside.
http://www.wusa9.com/story/news/local/maryland/2015/04/02/montgomery-county-public-schools-special-needs-student-changes/70867864/ Very frightening. What does it say about the administration at that school that the mom felt she had to go on TV to get her concerns addressed??? |
Not sure about the special education in wayside, but my friend has a kindergartener at wayside now, and they are very happy. |
| If you like your elementary schools white and very rich, you will like at Wayside. Extremely wealthy families. |
Are you a parent at the school, currently? Is there anything else you can comment on, if yes? Thanks. |

| We chose private over Wayside. |
| Who is Dana Tofig? The responses quoted from her/him in the Post are extremely rude and dismissive. Yuck. |
Sorry I think I'm missing something. I don't see that name anywhere - is it in the article link that someone posted, or an actual poster on this thread? THere's definitely the rude, obtuse & unhelpful poster, but there often is one and they're quite easily ignored. |
| Dana tofig is the MCPS public relations guy on the video who totally dismissed the mother's concerns. |
| I had two children at Wayside. It is a wonderful school with excellent teachers. Also a warm and nurturing environment. As for the wealthy comment, you would have to expect that in a Potomac school, but along with that comes very involved, motivated parents who guide their kids toward academic excellence. As for the white comment, yes at is true, but there is also a large Asian population. |
| I have a child in K and another in 2nd grade. We've been very happy there and many parents seem to feel the same way, at least the ones I know. Lots of parent involvement and good teachers (so far). |
This is great to know, thanks for posting. |
Thanks to you too, good to know. We're going to visit them next week. |
Thank you for taking the time out of your no doubt very busy day, to contribute that to this thread. I am overwhelmed by your generosity. |
