Has another gotten their SAT scores yet?

From the March 14th date?

If so, how did DC do?

A friend of mine says her friends DC scored 1600 and is devastated. The kid attends a private school with a high gpa. And now they want to make the new SAT harder if I understand correctly. I suggested try the ACT.

1600 out of 1600 or 2400 (some colleges only care about cr and m scores).

Out of 2400? Those are pretty average/low scores. Like 530 for each section.

Congrats. Like your child, my DC took a Spring SAT, earned a 2350 and was done. They were admitted to their first choice for college.

Thanks! Pre-results, DC's college counselor recommended taking it twice. Haven't talked to her post-results, but I hope she tells DC not to bother. At any rate, between APs in May and SAT subject tests in June, it wouldn't happen until October anyway. Glad to hear not everyone retakes.

Congrats to your DC!

The counselor would be nuts to suggest he/she take it again! Her/his scores could go down and make the first test look like a fluke.

I got a 1510 with the old SAT test (out of 1600) and I, with the advice of my counselor and parents, took that score and RAN.

Agree. Go for the ACT. You'll likely be surprised on the difference.

Maybe I've misunderstood, but doesn't the newish-ish "choice" option eliminate that downside? Sounds like the student gets to present his or her best score in each category, those scores can come from different days, and the college doesn't even see the less-than-best scores or the number of times the student has taken the test.

Is that accurate? If so, does the college even know that the student has chosen that option?

Do all schools accept the super score alternative?

Also are they making SAT harder? I thought they were making it more like ACT.

Yes, the schooll knows and most of the better schools don't accept it.

The schools know that you have selected to superscore, and many colleges require you to submit the results from every test sitting. Therefore, do not have your child take any of those tests until they are fully prepared.
