The counselor would be nuts to suggest he/she take it again! Her/his scores could go down and make the first test look like a fluke. I got a 1510 with the old SAT test (out of 1600) and I, with the advice of my counselor and parents, took that score and RAN.
Maybe I've misunderstood, but doesn't the newish-ish "choice" option eliminate that downside? Sounds like the student gets to present his or her best score in each category, those scores can come from different days, and the college doesn't even see the less-than-best scores or the number of times the student has taken the test. Is that accurate? If so, does the college even know that the student has chosen that option?
The schools know that you have selected to superscore, and many colleges require you to submit the results from every test sitting. Therefore, do not have your child take any of those tests until they are fully prepared.
