Social skills camps/groups

Anonymous
We are new residents of Montgomery Co. and I'm looking for summer options for our 5 year old. I'd love a good social skills group -- he does not have an Aspergers or ASD diagnosis ... yet...but I won't be surprised if we end up there somewhere down the line. He currently receives speech therapy and OT. I haven't yet found a new therapy practice in MoCo yet, also on my to-do list.

What are some good camps/programs for social skills?

Here's a list of camps:

(Scratch Motion Education off the list b/c it's pretty much defunct.)

LEAP at the University of MD in PG county does a short summer program for speech.

Kingsbury School in DC also has specialized camps.

Sorry I meant JSSA. I was thinking of a person I know who goes to preschool at our local JCC and her son also goes to a social skills group at JSSA.

The Pediatric Development Center in Rockville has a social skills group this summer. They also offer OT and ST. The therapists there are very good. http://pdcandme.com/

Try Floor Time in Bethesda. http://www.thefloortimecenter.com/parents/services-programs/social-groups/

Talk to Tim Bleeker, he is the director of the program. Really wonderful place!

Basic Concepts has the coupon a pp mentioned. It's a very popular camp. You might also be interested in the B-Social at Fitness for Health camp but it's really short. Say what part of the county you're in and you'll get more recs.

I tried to google about the coupon but did not find it. Do you have any ideas where to find coupon for Basic Concepts?
