I wonder if there's a similar list for VA

I'd like to add Early Intervention Therapists (Montrose Rd. Rockville) has a fairly new but well run and fun camp for kids with GROSS MOTOR CHALLENGES. Kids with motor challenges like cerebral palsy are often not well included in some of the 'Special Needs' camps in the area. This camp has a full staff of PT's who turn physical and occupational therapy into a fun experience--even providing swimming. Insurance covered 100% for us, because it is physical therapy. Depends, of course, on your plan.

Thank you for this! It had just crossed my mind the other day to start thinking about camps...

Bumping this old thread b/c of the very helpful list of summer camps that may work for kids with SN. If anybody can chime in with experiences with these camps, or other suggestions, I would very much appreciate it! I'm looking for both theraputic camps and also regular camps that are inclusive for a 7 year old with significant speech issues.

A particular question about the Rockville JCC inclusion camp: Does this fill up super early such that there is no point in even thinking about it for summer 2018 now?

I want to add this:
University of Maryland Hearing and Speech Clinic

Imagination Stage in Bethesda has been special-needs friendly for us. They have a special needs coordinator who will call you to ask about how they can work best with your child.

Usually LEAP is full with kids who were there during the school year or kids who are starting in the fall. Its only for 3-5 year olds.

So what?

It's a good one to add to the list, PP.

Summer session then. Being so rigidly literal isn't particularly helpful.

I would add that U of Maryland Reading Center has a wonderful half day for three weeks summer program on reading skills. U of MD college Park also has a summer camp for six weeks, too. It is possible to do both programs. Preference is given to UMD staff.

There is also the DC DPR therapeutic camp -self-contained with aides - and the DPR locations where the do inclusion with assigned aides. We did it at Sherwood for the last couple of years and the placement Ian outside the DPR midnight rush sign up from February. Contact is Ms. Priscilla Jones.

Our child likes the JCC inclusion camp well enough, but as a non Jew I will say that the camp administration finds ways of making us feel less included, more so as the years go by. We, the parents, don’t feel particularly welcome, but our child doesn’t seem to sense any of that. So, if you’re okay with that dive right in.
