Comment if you are trying for your FIRST baby

I don't have anything against secondary infertility although I am not in the frame of mind to hear success stories.

Who on this board has been trying for their first one? How long have you tried and what are your plans?

I am trying for our first baby since 2009. We have tried 4 IUI cycles and 8 IVF cycles. Most of my cycles showed a big fat negative, some of them were biochemical pregnancies and one of them was a miscarriage. I am 36 and have been to gynecologists, RE's and RI's. I feel I am done and taking a break. I have no plans for now.

Trying for 2 years. 3 iui's, 4 Ivf's, 1 FET has resulted in 2 chemical pregnancies. It's heart breaking. Getting ready to start another IVF.

Op what does your RE say about the chemicals and miscarriage? Did you do PGD?

OP, I'm truly sorry. I'm not sure there's much to say, other than that I think everyone here wishes you some peace.
Remember this: you are SO strong for making it through eight cycles. That's just unbelievable strength -- mental and physical. I'm guessing, just based on that, that you have the strength to face whatever iyou decide to do next.

OP I know you are not in the mindset to hear success stories so I will make mine very brief: It took me 7 years and 11 rounds but I have a child!

Trying for 3 years, 3 IVF, 2 Fet.. Got a miscarriagd and a chemical. I'm so over fertility treatments. I'm doing another FET and then moving on to adoption even though I have several frozen embryos.

Trying for 2 years and 3 months. One 6 week MC 6 months into trying. Nothing after. Did first IUI earlier this year and had a chemical. On second IUI now, in 2WW although took a test this morning and nothing. I'm 34.

OP, my heart goes out to you. I am clearly a novice at the fertility journey and already I feel like throwing in the towel, and I've been lucky to see some forms of success (ish). You are truly strong to go through all of that. If you take a break I wish you much enjoyment of it.

So sorry OP. Infertility really sucks.

I'm 29 and have been trying for 2 years. We've never had a BFP. We've done 3 IUI and are doing our 2nd round IVF right now. Our embryo quality was terrible the first round (no blasts) so I'm not sure what direction we'll go in if we get a similar result this time, hopefully that's not the case, but I have a feeling that's the reason why we've never had a BFP.

Since you are able to get pregnant, it seems like an egg quality problem is most likely. Have you considered donor eggs?

This is my exact scenario too. For a second I was confused and thought I'd written it. I'm doing my last FET now. I already have the adoption papers ready to go.

OP, I am 39, have been trying for 5 years. 3 IUIs and 8 IVFs, all BFN. Completed my first DE transfer last Wednesday, beta is next Friday. So far I don't feel anything different than during any of the failed cycles. I think I am numb and affraid to let even a glimpse of hope for fear to be super disapointed on Friday. Infertility sucks big time.

This is the OP. Thanks everyone!
I truly admire your perseverance - I know how difficult it is to do a cycle, fail and get ready for another.
For those who asked me about DE, yes, that is in consideration. I am taking a break, giving my body and mind some rest and will again gear up to try something new. I am thinking of donor egg or donor embryo or donor embryo in a gestational carrier or adoption.
We used PGS tested embryos for last 2 cycles.
Best wishes to everyone who has been trying and waiting for their results. Infertility sucks like no other thing.

I am 38 and trying for my first since last 2 years. Starting on my first IVF cycle this month. The process is overwhelming and balancing Ivf, work and commute is going to be a challenge for me.

It's nice to hear I'm no the only one on this position (I'm the PP). I hope this transfer works for you! But if it doesn't what adoption agency are you going to use?
