How can they be thunder thighs if it's muscle

I suspect your idea of "all muscle" is very different from my idea of "all muscle."

Why do you want to slim them down? I have large legs, also all muscle. They look great.

embrace them. You have strong quads that ground you to this earth and support you. They help you move purposefully through life!

Pilates, barre to lengthen

Are you trying to tell us that doing these exercises is going to physically lengthen OP's femur?

You can lose weight, or you can let your leg muscles atrophy. If you have a body type that naturally holds on to fat in your legs, losing weight will be hard. Might be better to embrace your body instead, challenging as that may be for someone like you.

It's unlikely op's body shape will change significantly but by doing exercises that lengthen muscles vs shorten (jumping, lifting) they might look a little leaner.

"Someone like you" - wtf?

You have no idea what you're talking about. Please stop.

I have large thigh muscles (thanks college-level soccer!) and found that my whole body, including my legs, feel and look leaner/longer when I do Pilates and barre. Getting leaner overall helps too of course.

Just sharing my experience. Not sure why you're so argumentative.

One of my friends (also former soccer player) swears by distance running. My knees are trashed so I can't try that.

I know what you mean op. I have a friend who is petite and I believe she was a gymnast, and her entire body is tiny except fir her booty and thigh area. She is very muscular...no fat. I think she looks great, but of course she hates it and buying jeans and pants is a nightmare. I have no advice, but to embrace your body type. She is strong, which I think makes her more attractive.

I have large legs as well, and they definitely slimmed a bit with regular pilates - I was going twice a week to classes for a while. Totally amazing - nothing else has ever done *that*!

You need the lipo

I tend to get blocky thighs with "normal" gym workouts, but Pilates gives me the long and lean look. The trade off is that my core is the only thing being super strengthened -- but since I'm not looking to leg press a VW or anything like that, I don't care. I work out to look good, not to be a badass.

Your muscles will not get longer by doing barre or whatever. that is nonsense. If they got longer they would be bunched up around your bones. Similarly, weight lifting does not make your muscles "shorter".
