| My husband's breath is horrible ALL THE TIME. I have not kissed him in many many years. He won't really do anything about it and thinks that I am exaggerating. He went to the doctor and dentist once, but nothing got better. I told him that I think it is food allergies or food not being digested properly in his gut that is rotting in his intestines. I suggested that he get tested for food allergies and change his diet and take digestive enzymes, but he hasn't. He brushes his teeth regularly, so its not like that's the problem. I really can't take it any more. Sometimes I can't even bare riding in the car with him unless the windows are rolled down (thank goodness for these warmer days recently). I am thinking of separating, but we have kids. What would you do? This problem negatively affects our relationship and intimacy. |
| Very strange that he has no interest in getting to the bottom of this and fixing it. Maybe his stubbornness is a defense mechanism of some kind. Would your children back you up about his breath? Are they old enough? So sorry. |
| "food rotting in his intestines" is ridiculous. He needs to see a dentist. |
Yes. And yes. But it might be a stomach or ENT issue. |
| Flossing and cleaning the tongue are important. Just brushing teeth may not be enough. |
| Could be tonsil stones. google at your own risk. |
Agree. Is he scraping his tongue too? It can make a big difference. |

My dad had horrendous breath and was helped by going on Zantac. Unfortunately it got really bad, ended up with lung cancer which killed him.
Point is, he needs a physical and probably a referral for a GI doc. |
| Has he tried using mouthwash 1-2 times per day? Google halitosis. There are website with info. Tell him you want to HELP him. Don't put him on the defensive. My dad has a bad "stomach" type smell. I think it might be from acid reflux. Could also be tonsil stone which can be dealt with by gargling wtih mouthwash. Try different things for the diet. Less acidic foods. More acidic foods. Salad and veges daily. dairy. no dairy. etc. meat. no meat. |

| I'm guessing old, cracked dental work. Maybe some decay that isn't showing up on x-rays. |
| My DH gets stinky breath from sinus infections. |
|
Can your kids or any trusted other person back you up on this?
My sympathies are with you. I have a dear friend with breath like you describe. I was in the car with her a few days ago and I was actually dizzy from the smell of it. I know she has good hygiene but lots of digestive issues. Days later I'm still considering trying to talk with her about it. If I had breath that bad, I hope to God someone would tell me. It's got yo be hurting her at work. She rarely has second dates. The may well be why. |

My wife has the same "shit in gut" breath. It's really hard to deal with. Been over 30 yrs now. I've just never had the balls to tell her how bad it is. Sad thing is, None of the Dentist have ever told her how bad her breath is neither. Doctors neither. I guess we all are too embarrassed for her !!!! It really sucks. |
Not true. Could very well be undigested food. |
