Blech.
Milk all the way. |
| Totally agree. I'd rather just drink a cup of plain hot water. Have never tasted an instant hot cocoa mix that was worth taking a second sip of. |
| Quick and easy and kids don't care |
| They should have milk powder in them. I'm with you in that I always make mine with milk, but I usually also just do from scratch because it's so easy. |
This. Also, there's powdered milk in the mix. |
| I use a mix of milk and water to cut down the calories. |
Mine do! They don't like the instant stuff either. |
| OP here. Doesn't have to be fancy. I never buy the hot chocolate packets. Just use Ovaltine and milk and stick it in the microwave. |
| Even better and easy. Take a spoonful of cocoa powder a slightly bigger spoonful of sugar and a dash if salt and put it in a mug with a little bit of water (or leftover coffee) Microwave for 30 seconds and then stir until all the cocoa is dissolved (nuking for a few more seconds if you need to) . Add milk to fill the mug and then nuke for 1-2 minutes, depending on your mug size. Stir. |
| If the instructions are to use water, then it has milk powder in it. (Check the ingredients.) Of course, powdered milk leaves a lot to be desired so it's much better if you use fresh milk as well. When I make it for my kids, I use hot water but I only put in half a cup so they get a thick, sweet little drink. |
|
I don't like the thickness of milk. I prefer it with water.
My husband and children are on the milk side. They even make their oatmeal with milk. Eew. |
| It is delicious without being overly filling. I dislike hot cocoa with milk. It is too thick and filling. |
|
It is an evil plot to make you think you are about to drink something tasty that ends up tasted like flavored water. Don't get me started on the instant "hot chocolate" packets that have those little dehydrated marshmallow imitations.
At least, that's what I think. |
+ a little drop of vanilla, and yum. |
| Never thought about it much. I don't drink milk, so I use water with hot chocolate and eat my cereal dry. For Christmas I eat my cookies with a icy cold glass of... water. |
