| If my neighbor's child (age 10) is coming over to play with our little ones, how much should I pay her? I will be home, btw. |
| $2 an hour. |
It's not 1960 Bessie. |
| I'd pay $5 an hour and round up. |
| I'd do a minimum of $10. If more than one hour, $5 each additional hour. |
| How long will she be helping for? How old are your kids? |
|
I wouldn't do more than $5/hour for a 10 year old that you have to supervise. Teens get $10-$15/hour. Adults supervising kids, particularly teachers, can command $20/hour. If you may the tween more, think about the shock she'll get when she really has to work for her living... we don't want to raise a generation of entitled brats (more than we're doing already!). |
$10 to $15??? That is more than minimum wage! |
The horror. |
I'm the PP you quoted. Some are getting paid more than that. Talk about living in a bubble. |
| I would feel funny if you gave my child more than $5 hr. for being a helper. |
Same here. I'd pay a 10 yo $2/hr and round up. We paid middle school kids $5/hr. I've got an 11 yo and he'd be thrilled to get $2/hr. |
I was paid more than that as a 10-year-old mother's helper 26 years ago! |
+1 |
| Agree with $5 an hour. |
