Yes. This is really painful. It sounds like the DC Government's over-enthusiastic gatekeeping just existed to keep the shots away from people they didn't consider deserving or virtuous enough. |
Some of these priority Ward-targeted initiatives are open to all adults, not just ones with age or medical or employment eligibility. So now DC's distribution plan is throwing actual medical prioritization out in favor of social engineering?? Here's the referenced article in the Post. It sounds like this extreme rationing hasn't even been necessary. https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/coronavirus-dc-maryland-virginia/2021/04/02/9dc4c3d2-93c2-11eb-9668-89be11273c09_story.html |
Also, per the website if someone does not respond after 48 hours, they go back into the pool 2x more. They need to clean up their list, and put people who don't respond at the back. |
I think that is fine, actually. It is good for that high-risk, high-spread community to vaccinated. It does help at all. My issue is that every day there are dozens of available appointments at CVS that are wide open, but as we saw from the health forum are going to MD eligible who get rerouted here. For DC, it is only available to teachers, health care workers, and priority zip codes, so that means MD folks are getting them (or people who are lying). I've called the mayor's office, emailed them several times, called the hotline. I finally got up and drove to Salisbury. |
| One last thing...it is infuriating that DC still hasn't vaccinated teachers and health care workers. All kinds of states opening up, and that is the requirement in DC. |
|
Shots sitting on shelves seems to be serving the cause of equity real well. If the hesitant populations won’t take it, Ward 3 can’t have it either. Now no one has vaccine, from DC at least.
People please remember this when you vote. |
| DC's covid numbers are on a very bad trajectory. Now we know why. The city is actively keeping shots out of arms. |
Criminal negligence. |
Is it true that Giant is now turning away re-supplies because the DC distribution is such a mess, they haven't been directing enough people to GIANT to get the shots? I head that the "refirgerators are full", 30,000 doses, no people being sent their way
|
That's what the Post says. Because G-d forbid the DC Government should let citizens schedule their own federally-provided shots. They just HAD to hijack the process so they could direct the doses according to their political goals. |
|
Let’s remember this when we all vote for Mayor.
This is on Bowser’s head. I know taking responsibility for failures is not her thing - so please do vote this pathetic exorcise for leadership out. |
|
I've been in DC for twenty years and this vaccine fiasco has put me over the edge and ready to move. I can not wait to vote Bowser out.
And I say that as someone who "won" the DC portal hunger games during the opening of the high-risk medical condition phase. DC's COVID numbers are rising rapidly and people are going to die because of the incompetence. |
| DC is trying to achieve equity by making the vaccine scarce when, according to the Post's reporting, it doesn't need to be. |
Agreed. Born in DC, packing my bags! Only so many times you can get spit in the face. Oh and I do live in Ward 3 currently, but haven't always. But why work to nice things in a communist state? |
Wait what? Is this really true? |
