Since this is anonymous, why did you REALLY redshirt your kid?

But what about those poor December-born kids who will have to compete against 16 months older than them? And you do realize that those redshirted had nothing to be proud of, right? They’re only leaders because they’re older, not smarter.

Those kids don't exist in my school with a 9/1 cut off date so I don't have to even consider them. You realize people are making decisions based on their own district rules and not yours?

You are trying to respond rationally to someone who seems quite unwell.

But I thought you said that being the youngest would make them develop grit and perseverance! Aren’t you happy that those December-born kids will have kids born 16 months earlier to model maturity and skills? Aren’t you always saying that it’s a benefit to be the youngest? Why do you want to deprive the December kids?

Why did I redshirt my skate August bday boy?

None of your business!

Please ask me in person sometime. I would love to tell you how it’s none of your business to your face.

Few years ago, HS English Teacher was let go because she had an affair with her male student. Luckily for her, he was redshirted and was 18 yrs old. So she was not sent to jail or labelled as a pedophile. Just an unexpected consequence of redshirting.

You don't have to explain. Your kid is intellectually, emotionally, socially and physically unable to cut it in his class with same age peers. Redshirting does not make him a leader, it just makes him able to barely function in an average way in the classroom with younger children.

are you the redshirt lady? you have seriously developed an unhealthy obsession on this issue. You post constantly on it. You are blaming it for all problems in the world including pedoplhilia which is crazy. You really need therapy. Please get some help. I hope Jeff stops you from further feeding your obsession here. As most people don’t redshirt, it’s clearly not a major issue, it’s only 5% of kids. Just stop.

This is one of the only things I have really learned from this board because I thought more people sent their kids a year early (ie September birthdays)

The vast majority of kids turn 18 in high school. What are you talking about?

You do realize that it was the poster's decision to redshirt their son, not their son's decision. It's really not fair to insult a child for a decision they had no control over. Insult and criticize the parent all you want, as they're the one who is breaking the rules. For all you know, this boy would've started on time had the decision been up to him.

You are deluded if you think only one person is posting. Why are you triggered? Just stop clicking on the threads that discuss redshirting.

Why don't you report this thread to Jeff and ask him to lock it?
