Just stop. You have no idea what you’re talking about. It’s clear you are male by this comment. You don’t know the shame that is attached to sexual assault victims. The blame that society heaps onto girls/women. In sexual assaults the victim is always blamed.

I'm a woman-- older than Dr, Ford. I was assaulted by a date and terrified. I was able to get him to stop. I did wonder later what I had done to encourage this, but I also told my friends right away. No way would I have kept quiet. I have posted earlier on this. I would not have told my counselor. I would not have told my mom, but I DID tell my friends. Not telling anyone? NO. Especially, for a teen.

I don’t think so. Lose the Senate and then Kavanaugh is a target for an impeachment proceeding. There is no long term gain with him.

If she doesn't remember the party, how does BK know that he wasn't there? That's not adding up.

For him to just say, "I wasn't at that party." Could only be true if he just never went to high school house parties (seems unlikely given all that has been published about his drinking and partying days in high school). But I'm not sure otherwise why he'd say that. Saying, I never did anything like this makes total sense, but him saying he wasn't at that party seems to be jumping the gun.

I guess she is just making it up all up to cause trouble for his nomination. That must be it.

Mine certainly did. But I remember the freaking YEAR

Same here.

I don't remember the exact year I had something awful happen to me on a subway. But I do remember it clear as day.

So, you would not believe your sons? Sorry that you have so little trust--or do you really distrust men that much?

As for a poly--you do know they are not always reliable?

So you would not believe your daughter if she told you such a thing happened to her?

I experienced an assault back in the 90s and never told anyone. Not even my husband (who was not my husband at the time) until just a few years ago.

Why do you believe your experience should be universal? Why do you condemn others who didn't react the same as you?

Could you allow that it's possible that some girls, faced with the same circumstances, perhaps made a different decision? Or are you insisting that every. single. girl who has been assaulted would have told someone else at the time? In other words, you're 100% sure that all girls would have exhibited exactly the same behavior in that situation? Despite some here (self included) sharing their stories and saying that they didn't tell anyone?

I agree, it's very possible that GOP will ram this through because there won't be a lot of near-future opportunities to put someone on the bench even if Dems take house and senate in midterms, and even if there's a Dem pres in 2021. Also maybe this solves a lot of the GOP's Trump problem -- ram in conservative Kavanaugh, hand Dems both chambers, impeach and remove Trump, get Pence and go back to their establishment Republicanism.

because if there was alcohol involved it means it wasn't a big deal? Or what?

This isn't being taken as an investigation.

It's not an investigation. It's a confirmation hearing. Really, Ford doesn't even need to be there. Her letter is enough. All Kavanaugh needs to do is convince people that he's not a liar. Somehow.

This will be about what the voters in a few key states believe to be the truth. Senators won't take a fall for BK. Why would they? They can move on to the next.

And everyone lives happily ever after.

Why would Grassley exclude Judge from testifying under oath? Seems like an actual eye witness (or not) would clear up a he said/she said pretty quickly.

I love how in these situations women are always doubted. Look how many women had to speak out against Cosby?! The GOP will trash this woman terriblely.

There is an outpouring of women's stories about being assaulted and raped as teens and not having told a soul, still to this day. So what you did does not mean that others didn't negates their assaults.
