Sure, seems like integration would benefit the community and is long overdue.

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha - listen closely. It will never, ever, happen. Whitman and Churchill parents will NEVER allow MCPS to bus kids into their school or build "Blacks/Hispanics Only" housing in their neighborhoods. They are way too politically connected. You can complain about how we need to put more minorities into these schools but the only way to do that is to build wealth in those two minority groups. Luckily, the Black and Hispanic unemployment rates are at or approaching historic lows.

So you're boasting that W parents use powerful political clout to gerrymander their boundary in order to exclude low-income students?

We can sue the BOE to keep our boundaries intact if that's what it takes to keep out the unwashed masses.

Can't wait for the boundary study to be done and diversify these schools.

It..... Won't..... Happen. You guys still don't get it.

All the dominoes are lined up. The BOE voted to prioritize diversity. It's on!

DCC-You take some of our black and Latino kids> W-we don’t want them you keep them> DCC- that isn’t fair to us you need diversity to know our pain> W- what pain? I thought everybody was jealous of Blair?> DCC -you’re racist and to prove the the board isn’t, we need more enrichment spots at PBES> W- our kids need enrichment too > DCC- no they don’t they have plenty of white kids errr peer cohort already in their classes> W- well at least I don’t live over there > DCC while we are at it throw up some low income apts in Bradley Hills

I swear that is how I read each and every one of these threads

If that’s how you read them, you are a part of the problem.

Said the silver spring parent who is strangely for segregated classes by claiming their children are underserved in mixed classes.

And then when they add minorities to the classes white parents accuse them of lowering the standards.

Whitman/Churchill are in dire need of integration. Allowing connected parents to gerrymander boundaries to exclude low-income students has gone on too long.

Continued segregation at these schools is at the heart of these almost weekly racist incidents.

It is crazy that the county has allowed the segregated schools with basically 0 FARMS to exist in this day and age.

Two updates from the principle declaring how the student are being constantly told how bad this is in less than 12 hours.

I think they know its bad. Thats why the two obnoxious ones used it. This overkill is absurd... especially the bit about demanding the kids dont use "gender-charged" words.

What the heck are gender charged words???

Good grief...

Apparently, sensitivity training didn't improve things.

Since these racist episodes happen there with clockwork regularity, safe to say the problem is systemic.

How soon until the next racist incident will happen at a W? Seems like we've been almost 2 weeks without one.

I'd give it a week.

The reason this keeps happening is because these schools are so segregated.

What about the parents here? This board is full of racists and intolerant people so how the hell is it a wonder that kids are taught the same? Look in the mirror folks - we are responsible for our own children.

Why is there no blanket ban on this vile term?

That's why I honestly feel the solution to these problems is rethinking these segregated school boundaries.

Because that would include banning black students from using the word all day long. I work in a high school and between classes, at lunch, and almost everywhere else it’s “N word” here and N word there all day long spoken by black students. No principal has the guts to forbid or give discipline to black students.

Is that how you justify your racism?
