We have been so fed up with disruptive kids in our public schools we left for private. Will the voucher system come back?

Most students in special ed are not disruptive kids.

What's wrong did the child with cerebral palsy disrupt your child by walking too slowly?

Did the kid in the wheelchair make too much noise wheeling into the classroom?

Would like the child with Down's syndrome to be put in a trailer, so as not to disrupt your perfect children?

DP, but this repetitive tired deflection is getting old. No one, and I do mean no one, is talking about the kids in wheelchairs, with CP, dyslexia, etc. That’s just a red herring. They’re talking about kids who disrupt gen ed classes, make it hard for others to learn, clear rooms, etc, etc.

But then, you already knew that.

I honestly do not know that. You might not hate my kid who has an IEP for the help needed around their hearing loss but when you mock IEPs as unnecessary and something you think can be scrapped it’s frustrating anyway.

And we all know that Trump is planning on supporting teachers by increasing their pay and benefits, because that's how you get good teachers.

I can't even type that with a serious face.

Many of the good teachers have already quit or retired because of burnout due to chaos and enforcing woke policies. Many of the newer ones can't even write competently so they have no business grading essays. Arguing for blanket pay raises makes no sense. If you say that only good teachers should get paid more because this will incentivize more competent people to also become teachers, most people will be on board.

No. Quitting has nothing to do with woke policies. Nothing.

Oh. You’re dumb. That’s sad.
Wait. Are you unaware of the insane woke policies in some schools/districts?

I am hopeful that blue states will be saving lots of money by no longer subsidizing those "low tax" red states.

Rich people in blue states will save money from tax cuts. Doesn't mean that money goes to state budgets.

The point is that the red States voted to no longer get education subsidies from the federal government. They are on their own and that is how they want it.

A lot of blue States, strong in education, aren't getting Federal money right now to do it. You're not going to miss something you don't have anyway.

Red states are fine with that. The rich, white kids go to private schools. Nobody else matters.

Pretty much. And the good public schools in red states tend to be in high income areas that are not dependent on federal subsidies. 14 of the 25 best public high schools in America are in red states, so it's not like they've abandoned public education. They just prefer local control and the easy availability of charters and private schools. Red states will be fine with the abolition of the Dept. of Education.

It’s the poor rural schools that will suffer more than they already do now.

And in red states in the South, that means Black people.

It’s unnerving to see ostensible progressives cheer this on as some sort of FAFO.

Wait, what? How are liberals to blame for red state school boards screwing over their own (low income) kids?

The history of public schools in the south is horrible especially in those country little towns. A lot of white students already don’t go to public schools or are in really chopped up school districts. A lot of these rinky dink majority African American towns have little private Christian schools that all of the white students go to. Look up segregation academies for some context.

Again, how is that the fault of progresives?

The deepest-red parts of the country like Oklahoma typically have the worst educational systems.

So why are there so many private schools in New England?

More for social status than anything else

The public schools there aren't all that great.
