Full Pay. But, with the scholarships/merit received they'd all be about $20-30K range.
Pre-health (dental, PT, or advanced nursing). They don't all have nursing, however, that is not the decided path. If that is the decision, could do an accelerated path after grad. We have a 520 that could cover the 4 years at these prices, and likely the accelerated program, as well.

Did NOT want a big school. Already decided against a T15 school that was a reach but made accepted. Too expensive, far away, and not the right fit after visiting and doing full tour. I thought DC was crazy but it's their decision and >$80K/year I get it.

Gettysburg

Bryn Mawr is far and away the most intellectual and rigorous school on this list. Attending Bryn Mawr is an incredible opportunity and not one that should be passed up.

Second for bryn mawr - network is way stronger and lasts throughout your life

Finances are a consideration - got scholarships everywhere but Cal Poly, Pitt and VA Tech. Physics major.

His favorites so far are UMD or VA Tech or W&M but he’s visiting Rochester next week…

UMd has a great physics department. But CU boulder has a top department. If cost is the same strongly suggest that. Definitely no VA tech or RIT or Pitt. Not sure why Cal Poly is on the list except quality of life.

W&M will be nice and smaller, Rochester has bright spots. But CU Boulder is such a great place for physics and a wonderful school. I’d be hard pressed to not do that unless a homebody (UMd) or want a small school (W&M). Good luck!

I would agree with UMD or Boulder for physics. I can see why Cal Poly is there, great STEM and engineering programs and plenty of research and hands-on learning.

But if you are 100% physics, I would lean Boulder.

Cost doesn’t impact decision

Interesting variety of options. Congrats. What major or general field of study?

Thanks. IR and business (minor only at Bucknell because didn’t apply for business school). In at Gabelli at Fordham

American is excellent for IR - and opportunities that DC affords. That said, with the mix of urban and small town, and both small and med size schools, I hope you can visit the top 3 at least. Best of luck!

UMD Honors (instate tuition and great engineering program, but not a great social fit at all)

Princeton (generous aid, Ivy, loves the campus, and residential housing, it's okay as far as social fit)

Northwestern (likes the campus, school culture, great social fit, and engineering program, but hates the weather)

Rice (the best social fit, loves the school culture, and student is a native Houstonian, but the engineering program is not the strongest out of the group)

Sounds like you like Princeton more...hoe good is their engineering program?

Does your child want all-women? That seems like a very important part of this decision.

Hi, I posted this before but interested if there are other comments:

DD science with a STRONG music component, the options are:

Carnegie Mellon (BXA, loves both music mentors)
Boston U. (12k merit annually, loves 1 of the music mentors)
UMD (in state + full merit tuition annually + FIRE program, loves 1 of the music mentors)

Kid values social aspect (wants to have fun as well), I value $ and closeness to home, would like to not be impressed with the name of the school (is that possible???

UNH honors program, engineering direct admit, merit scholarship, OOS

UMD in state, freshman connection, L&S, Carillion, full pay

SMCM, merit scholarship, recruited, best social fit, in state

Oberlin, recruited, merit scholarship, least social fit

When you say for the location, like literally just for the ocean, beach, etc or any more university or academically-focused reason? Just curious, thanks!

SMCM and UNH want your kid to study with them! How is the social fit in UNH?

DC is a go-getter and would succeed in a large or small school. Econ/Finance. Also waiting to hear from UMich.

Doesn’t sound like a Wes type, but more a Colgate. UCLA if wanting to work on the west coast, otherwise, no. UMD if no financial aid and finances are a concern.

Agree. Definitely Colgate if he wants to stay on the West Coast.

Need to visit - I know a few kids, including my own, who thought they preferred one school over the other and after visiting they thought the opposite.

Yes, there is no best school on this list so it's which place student feels most comfortable/excited.
