NP. I assume you are the same person who just keeps writing “lies” in response to anything you disagree with? - and you think you “make a point” by doing that? SAT scores did in fact plummet. |
And a Democratic activist behind “4PublicEducation” got up at a SB meeting and said the all-D board had no responsibility for this because it was all due to more Black and Hispanic kids taking the test. |
I have children in FCPS and I see too much SEL in the school day at the expense of core subjects. I also see resources (funds, time, and people) redirected towards more SEL like programs and SEER money further funding Panorama and other CRT consultants, while teacher retention is at its lowest. I know of multiple families who are outsourcing tutors for math and English lessons for all grades because they have observed the emotional and behavioral toll it has taken on their kids who have fallen behind academically. Other families are spending a fortune for SAT preparation because the on-line tutoring service offered by the school is ineffective for most. I also watch the School Board meetings and can attest to their priorities and attitude. I even have to hear them, time and again, congratulate themselves for a “job well done”, and, of course, there are the celebrations and photo sessions. I also watch some brave community members comment and some activists put on a show. By the time they get to the relevant topics of the meeting, most of the times, I have fallen asleep, just to find out later I hadn’t miss much. |
I’m going to assume your comments are honest. I am also a parent of kids in FCPS and I don’t know what this means. Can you describe how they have SEL in the school day at the expense of academics? I know they do a screener once or twice a year. But what else? |
FCPS didn’t “shrug” any of those things off. ![]() |
Really? The “CRT consultants” is a red flag. |
Yes, it is about the party to which he belongs and that supports him. These people are endorsed by the same party. That’s not deflecting, that’s reality. |
^ forgot to bold “I’m going to assume your comments are honest”. |
Is this the speaker: https://www.4publiceducation.org/post/don-t-be-fooled-into-thinking-that-fcps-is-failing Did you look at the data? Which part was not accurate? And you do realize that a SB community speaker is not the same as the SB/FCPS, right? |
I wonder if they mean Advisory? I’ll admit that I’ve often wished that this was shorter and study hall (RAISE) was longer, but tossing some SEL stuff in with administrative work seems like a good-enough choice. FCPS high schoolers don’t have home room, which serves this function when I was that age. |
I think the PP has children above the ES grades, maybe? |
Advisory is just a new name for home room. 90% of the time it is study hall at my kids' school. |
That’s possible - I also would like more study hall time but advisory lessons don’t take away from core academic content. I was also wondering if this was an ES thing. My kids are in HS. |
Not the PP. Just another FCPS parent. Besides SEL screener, FCPS school have SEL lessons. You can opt-out SEL screener but not SEL lessons. I |
They paid $24,000 to Ibram X. Kendi himself. $24,000 for a one hour lecture over Zoom. And that’s only one example; there are many more. Stop playing dumb, PP. |
