When was the last flash mob looting?

Well.... this happened in LA. I think it qualifies as a flash mob looting.

representation matters!

Now tell you what I want you to do
Now when I say hit it
I want you to hit it
You hear me, Jabo?
You hear me Bernard?
But when I say quit it
I want you to quit it
You ready? Hit it
Quit it

Ok, it’s official. San Francisco is an unsafe disaster of crime and drugs. Where is the mayor? Where is the Governor? How could they let this happen.

Federal Employees are now advised Not To Go To Work and the Pelosi federal building in downtown San Fran is it is too Unsafe due to crime and drugs!!!!!! So if it’s not safe for Federal Employees to go to work in person, how is it safe for any resident??

They let it happen because the voters asked for it. It's not like the mayor and the governor hid the ball. They campaigned on these policies.

If anything, compared to the average SF voter, London Breed has gone full maga. She woke up to how bad things were a couple years ago. But it took a long time for things to get this way, and it will take a long time for it to become safe and appealing again.

It's remarkable how quickly this has all happened. 7 years ago San Francisco and Portland were great cities. Safe. Fun. Great quality of life. Awesome restaurants. Wonderful natural locations. And now both places are straight out of The Walking Dead.

In retrospect, refusing to prosecute criminals and tolerating open air drug markets - first for heroin, now for fentanyl - were terrible approaches to urban life. Until that changes, two of the best cities in America are going to continue to spiral. There needs to be a tough on crime approach going forward. And the addicts need to be given a choice. Treatment or jail. But you can't live and use on the sidewalks anymore.

Unfortunately, I don't see anything changing.

Yes, it’s remarkable how fast progressivism destroys and lets rot set in.

Chicago is next and after that NYC. Ironically it's all Dem run cities (I'm not GOP). Admittedly, something's wrong with the Dem cities..

Whether it's a school, community, city, business, etc, most people do not function well with no rules, laws, or consequences. It's a myth to think that allowing people to do whatever they please -- including criminal activity -- with no consequences will create a safe space for anyone.

big cities with black Dem mayors are not so soft on crime because they know that the people hurt most by these criminals are black people. Other than the mayor of Chicago, none of these black mayors are progressives. It's the white mayors and their white savior complex that's driving cities like SF to the ground.

So.... what are you saying? It's only the white San Francisco mayors that are to blame?

Another one bites the dust due to progressive SF policies. R.I.P. an 166 year old SF institution:

https://www.cnn.com/2023/08/15/business/gumps-store-open-letter-san-francisco/index.html

Gump’s, which sells luxury furnishings and jewelry, was acquired by Chachas after the retailer filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2018. The high-end retailer, founded in San Francisco in 1861 and born out of the famed California gold rush, has only one physical location, which is one block from the city’s Union Square.

“The ramifications of Covid policies advising people to abandon their offices are only beginning to be understood. Equally devastating have been a litany of destructive San Francisco strategies, including allowing the homeless to occupy our sidewalks, to openly distribute and use illegal drugs, to harass the public and to defile the city’s streets,” he wrote.

SFiscans voted for stupid and got stupid in return. They have no one to blame but themselves.

This problem started back when Reagan decided to get people out of mental institutions. They all went to the streets. I remember it well as I was starting a career in Chicago. Most Americans had never heard the word "homeless" before that.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mental_Health_Systems_Act_of_1980

Back when all the esteemed psychiatrists advised us that these people would be fine because of medications and should live freely. Very sadly, their lives would be much better if they were taken care of through required long-term hospitalization or group homes, rather than living on the streets.

Yup, it's always 'Reagan's fault!' when there were so many progressives back then foaming at the mouth that it was cruel and inhumane to lockup people with mental problems in govt institutions. Liberals all told us they would be fine living in the world on their own.

? no, that's not what happened. They wanted the mentally ill to be in locally controlled facilities with federally funding, but Reagan gutted the federal funds for the state run institutions.

Read the history of what happened.

https://www.kqed.org/news/11209729/did-the-emptying-of-mental-hospitals-contribute-to-homelessness-here

1981 President Reagan repeals Carter’s legislation with the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act. This pushes the responsibility of mentally ill patients back to the states. The legislation creates block grants for the states, but federal spending on mental illness declines.

Current one looks pretty black to me.

And let's not talk Baltimore or DC or Detroit or...

It's the progressive leaders of SF. The AG for SF, a progressive white man, was recalled last year, as were some of the board of education members, all progressives. The people of SF had decided the progressive wokeness was getting out of hand.

I used to live in SF. The place has really changed for the worse.
